Hi everyone

Im in the middle of building a C5 4G63T AWD project

I picked this up cheap the other day and after looking at it im wondering if its possible to use this for taking the parts from to convert the C5 hatch i have into AWD / 4WD

The car is

1990 Mitsubishi Galant GTI 4WD & 4WS, Loaded with all the gadgets like air con and cruise control which will be binned

pics say a thousand words so here you go here is the donor car that will be ripped to bits very soon if itsd possible to use

I never knew those years galant's came in hatch form. Looks good, the turbo conversion should be fairly easy to do.

That thing is sweet! Are you tearing it apart as a parts car for your Mirage?

if the AWD prop, diff and rear subframe etc can be used on my C5 (Mirage hatch) ?

I have searched to see if this model galant has been used for the AWD swap but i cant find any info on it being used

The Galant's 4G63 N/A is going in my 1991 Lancer GTI

I have a Galant 4G63T VR-4 engine that im rebuilding to drop into the C5 hatch along with the AWD setup

You can make a killing off some of those body parts if you end up using that for a parts car, just so you know.

You should be able to use the rear diff, subframe, transfer case, transmission out of that car in your C5. Those cars probably have the different final-drive ratio in the trans that does not match up with the US parts, same with the rear-end, but if you use them together it should be fine. You will have to have a custom driveshaft made for the AWD conversion though. None of these parts will bolt directly on you realize, but if you're willing to make them work they will fit.

None of the body parts will fit on your C5.

i was thinking about fitting them onto my lancer gti, and the front bumper has a lower lip i will cut out and see what it looks like on the gti bumper all fiberglassed into the bumper.

will take some cutting and blending but might work, il measure everything up before i go cutting anything though

Still can't get past the part where you said you want to rip apart a super clean mint loaded GTI.

Just to clear it up here is a small list of why im ripping it to bits for the swap

1 i got it cheap
2 its not as clean as it looks
3 its 4g63 has a leaking water pump
4 the whole engine needs a rebuild
5 it has the usual UK rust worm slowly eating away at it
6 it may make my C5 into 4X4
7 what is left will be sold so it will keep another on the road a bit longer and il get a bit of money back

other than that i suppose its not bad but i dont like the early galant shape

Don't scrap all the misc pieces, sell them. You could probably make some $$$ selling parts to the guys at the VR4 forum. http://www.galantvr4.org/

You can use the rear assembly and driveshaft (you'll have to have one of the driveshaft sections shortened however). I was going to use a rear assembly from a local vr4 until I picked up a 4 bolt lsd rear from a dsm for $50. :D
