Will a 3 bolt lsd vr4 rear subframe work instead of the dsm rear subframe? Any issues to worry about?

GVR4's never came with an LSD because they had 4WS. But to answer your question, yes you can use that subframe. I would recommend using a 3-bolt from a DSM though, because a lot more of them came with LSD's. The only exception are '91 DSM's with ABS.

Nope. They have the same gearing.

I remember asking about this on the Galant board a while back and I was told that something had to be welded up too. There are rubber bushings that have to be torched out and then you weld something solid to keep the rear wheels from slightly turning. I have no idea how much truth there is to this. It may be worth your while to ask some of the Galant guys that have already done it though just to be sure.

Or you could just get a 1G DSM rear end and be done with it. Is it REALLY this important to you to use a VR4 rear end? Or is that all you have right now? I'm not trying to be a douche, just wondering why you'd want to go through the headache. I could see if there were some decent upgrade to using this rear end but I'm failing to see the point in it.

You're referring to the automatic toe adjusters, but I didn't think GVR4's had that because they actually had 4WS instead of wannabe 4WS, which is what the toe adjusters are. That shit is GAY.

It's availability and price. I can get a 3 bolt dsm rear for 100 but it has 200K miles on it, vr4 has half the miles on it (twice the price), is coming out a car I know the history on and I don't have to pull anything myself. I won't have to swap anything to keep the rims I bought either iirc.

In order to CORRECTLY do a 4WS delete you'll have to weld up the "tie rods" on the rear.

I would suggest you go with the DSM rear sub just cause you dont have to mess with welding anything

I'll already be welding things at that point (which is far down the road).

from what ive read about vr4's when you remove the aws you dont have to do anything a set of poly bushings will help stiffen things up but other than that nothing is required for steering geometry. no granted i dont know what you would do about the hole on the top of the diff where the rack goes. if you want to use your rims just go on galantvr4.org and get some rear spindles from someone that did a 5 lug swap and use those in the dsm rear hubs along with the dsm 3 bolt lsd. not as strong as the 4 bolt but you will have your 4 lug hubs along with a lsd an abundance of replacement parts etc. also if you wanted to go with the 4 bolt all you would have to do is switch the axle cups and keep the 4 lug spindles heres a link http://www.galantvr4.org/ubbthreads/sho ... art=2&vc=1 take a look at the first two post on page 2 to see about removing the aws setup. there is alot more info on removing it and how the vr4 handles without it.

What parts off the NA AWD galant/Eagle 2000gtx are needed to do the 4ws delete?
