Any links to information on swapping the 4G64 out for the 4G63? Car is a 92, 5speed and AWD already.

Get with Leon Reitman [grndsm] He's doing a suspension swap. JAS3113 on the gvr4 board did a swap.

For now, heres pics...

I would think some sort of suspension swap would be necessary for anyone trying to seriously drag race one of these cars. From the factory they're just not designed to handle serious launches. I've seen 13-second AWD Summit/Expos racing, and I have to say when they launch it looks hilarious. It's like a retarded peg-leg dog going after some juicy bacon and running across a rug on a slippery hardwood floor.

I remember seeing the burgandy one at The Shootout a few years ago. Was pretty peg legged when it launched. Still pretty quick for a close to stock setup 4G63. Isn't that the one thats for sale with the rear quarter all cut out?

That burgandy one looks great with the matching gvr4 wheels.

Your ’92 is quite different from ‘93-‘96. It uses “1G style” tranny and motor mounting system (where as ‘93+ use 2G style mounts). In many ways, ‘92 is more desirable, but then it also depends on what you are used to working on and what you have sitting around :).

Unfortunately, there isn’t much information on performing this swap :(. I am trying to gather the information on my swap and post it here:

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3117423

But I haven’t gotten around to the engine swap… just yet :).

I have seen the write-up about the burgundy car before, but not about the teal car. Does anyone have a link to this guy’s car?

I agree what you guys about stock suspension, it is simply pathetic! Fortunately that is very easy to fix.

The rear end is also somewhat tricky. The pumpkin front mount has a lot of flex and will probably experience the same type of failure as 2G DSM. So I would not attempt to run much faster than 11’s on a stock rear end. And it also non-lsd, I think that converting to LSD would have been easy with DSM parts, but these vans use very different axles, so finding an LSD axle (one of them has to be different) will be difficult :(.
