Instead of using a VCU eliminator, can you use something like this:

You'd obviously still need to weld the center diff, and remove the output shaft. Think it's doable?

Since that's designed to work with a 3000GT, I don't think it would work too well on DSM parts.

Obviously, that's why I said something "like" this. Regardless, the 3000GT tranny is very similar to the DSM one. I'm wondering if any has totally removed the output shaft, instead of just using that VCE and leaving the shaft there.

Scott,

I think that you missed the point behind that 3000GT part. They still require to use a VCE or some other way of locking your center diff. This thing only allows you to remove the shaft (sounds like they need to do that to run AWD tranny on a FWD car). We could do the same thing if we wanted to save 1lb or so (the weight of the shaft).

I have a VCE I would be willing to let go for cheap.

So if I wanted to use my built AWD transmission for a 4G in FWD, I could just throw the AWD tranny in, throw a VCE in with no transfer case attached, and call it a day?

Yep. Lots of people do this because the AWD gearset is more desireable, mostly for the shorter final-drive ratio.

Thanks! I saw TeamRip has the cheapest VCE at 85 bucks, anyone have any experience with that?
