I dismanteled my subframe and cleaned all parts including upper and lower control arms. Ordered bushings and new bolts. Removed ALL rust (not much). In the process, I removed the ball joint grease covers, which were shot, and cleaned out most of the grease. I thought that I could remove the "C" retainer clips and have the ball joints pushed or pressed out. Doesn't appear to be the case. They are supposed to be a control arm unit. Any info. on getting the ball joints out, greased, and replaced?

I'm guessing you are talking about the rear since you mentioned subframe. I'm sure they press out but it will take alot of pressure since more than likely they're seized in there.

Yeah, talking about the rears. I am also considering trying to use a pressure greaser to "force" some grease in there. You think?

Well, I worked it out. From info. on the web., I drilled SLOWLY into the bottom of the ball joint with a small drill for a pilot hole. Be careful to blow away metal shavings. I stopped right at the breakthrough, which you can tell because the drill wants to grab. Then I opened it out with a 13/64 drill to about the same point. The ball sits in a plastic socket, so I the used a small xacto knife to cut out the plastic, being careful to avoid shavings from going into the socket. Then I tapped it with a 6mm and put in a 6mm zerk fitting. I the went to Grease Monkey and got the zerks pressure lubed. Problem solved.

After doing all that, the ball joint spindle shaft seems mighty stiff. I have tried to work them side to side and fore to aft, pushing a little grease whenever I got a new exposed surface. They are still stiff. Anyview on what affect this will have on the suspension? I am hoping that being on the rear, there won't be much movement. Hell, let's HOPE that it will be an improvement. Views? :-?

Tight is okay as long as it doesn't totally bind and/or open up with more play in a short amount of time due to lack of lubrication due to small clearances. The front takes more of a beating than the front with turning and all, so you may have to wait and see.
