http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5236155 in this picture, it seems like making the cross member arch was unneccesary

It looks like you could have just went straight across with it right?

Yeah I realize that now, at the time when I fit it all together I did not even think that the actual diff housing was held up with a jack. And I think the front mounting points were a little low at the time. Oh well, all done now. I like being different anyways.

Well at least the rear is in and the car is on the ground. I bet you can't wait to see how she does with the driveshaft in place and working.

On a side note, I think the wheel being too far back in the wheel well is becoming commonplace, as you are the 2nd swap I've seen who has run into that situation. Looking for that extra wheelbase I guess for better launching ability :D .

Keep us updated on the driveshaft install!

is the rear being so far back just a result of not standing back and looking when you lined everything up? or was something preventing you from going further forward?

It took for ever to get the diff centered, I thought it was all good, until I got out from under the car and looked at it from a distance. I thought to myself that the diff was too far forward. Measured it with the corners of the fenders and it was. I moved it back and remeasured, but guess I moved it back too far. While I am waiting for the drive shaft I still have to tube both 1/2'' fuel lines, intercooler piping, gmaf, rear brakes, fill all the fluids and bleed everything. Lots yet.

You mentioned that with the headers you couldn't use the stock fan. I had a similar problem. I used a slimline fan. However, I did not provide for a shroud. Consequence: fan cooled only the fan circumference. Try and use the double slimline and shroud off any extended radiator areas. Sorry to get off subject. Good work. I am way behind.

Apparently the friend with the bumper also has some slim fans too that he is not using.

Bad news, I have to work next week due to a scheduling miss-hap. So the week off gets pushed ahead one more week, oh well, means 3 weeks of next week. Get lots of overtime next week to finish everything up with. :D

Going to add up the total cost into the car tonight. I am getting curious.

Woah.. I thought my rear wheels set back alot. and now that i'm driving mine. Its not as bad as i thought.

you might want to see if there is a way so pull it forward some. thats a little much. As for notching the front cross member. good idea. it doesnt look like it will hit, but i had to beat my floor up about an inch or so.

When I measured everything up it was apparent that if the subframe hit the floorpan where the rear seats would be then the subframe was sitting too high in the car. Redsleeper, what kinda angle does your rear driveshaft shaft make with the diff?

My driveshaft from tcase to rear diff is almost striaght. No angle at all really.

Sweet, how much did you end up cutting the driveshaft for the shorter colt wheelbase?

If the drive shaft is almost straight, I would think the diff would need to be 1.5 inches lower than I put mine. I thought of this too, but it would also look like a lifted car then.

I tried to think of a simple way that I could make a mount for each of the four corners of the diff so that I could loosen all the bolts, move it side to side, and front to back to center it while its bolted to the car. When center tighten all the bolts. This way no worries of welding in the wrong spot. But my imagination when it comes to stuff like that is limited. Would of just been one more thing to adjust in the alignment.

Then why didn't you just get a 1 piece driveshaft?
