I got alot done today. I got both frame rails cut out. and the plate tacked in place. I also got the rear sub assembly in and also tacked in place. I got everything square. and Everything is titties.. Almost.. We measured everything again. and its to the passenger side a little less then 1/8in. But other then that everything is perfect. I guess i'm grinding the welds and fixing that part monday. So far all is going smooooth

I just have a few Questions. I see you have a four lug rear end and 4 bolt. The Eclipse has 5 lug are you running a Galant rear end? I was woundering I'm going to be doing the swap soon. Any help would be great.

Everything i'm using is out of a 92 AWD laser... The 4 bolt rear diff/trans/tcase. sub frame.


I did buy galant vr4 rear 4lug hubs so i could keep it 4 lug. And they werent tooo easy to find.

Very impressive! I am a big researcher and have collected virtually all the info. on this subject. I am appreciative to all. Anyway, I still haven't started on the actual conversion. I am still rebuilding the Colt/Mirage (it's half anf half). I found out that the control arm balljoint is an integral part of the control arm. However, the small dust/grease balljoint cover is replaceable, but there is a special tool for a replacement. (It looks like a 2.5" sleve to go over the cover and drive the edge, which has a steel belted core, into the control arm.

4wd truck balljoint C-clamp kit got me through this and brake piston repairs, and for the measly price of $29.95 plus tax from you equivalent to Harbour Freight. It is the best money you will spend on a cheap tool, and will allow you to press more than ball joints. Great multi-purpose tool for the money!

So, any updates on this AWD swap Red Sleeper??

If you will use it more than twice, it is worth it since you have to pay $100 deposit+tax on the autozone tool and you don't get your tax back at return.

AS for the update. the car is 99% done. We started it wednesday of last week. and finished up everything else. And my driveshaft will be done tomorrow. I'll havve more pictures up ASAP
