Do you think AWD goes against the reason you build a CSM or is it gods gift to CSMs?

No it's the Holy Grail

"Ownage" does not come close to describing the capabilities an AWD CSM

Absolutly, if you want awd just get a dsm instead. My reason for getting my mirage in the first place is that its light and fwd.

I hate awd. I've owned turbo audis before and had to search long and hard to find the right fwd cars. I dont like the extra weight and drivetrain loss. My prefered dirvetrain layout is rwd.

Idk I don't think it would defeat the purpose but I have no room to talk.

JJ. I certainly see your point, but keep in mind an AWD CSM is relativiely 400 lbs lighter than an AWD 1G/2G. IMHO that's the best reason to consider making an AWD CSM.

AWD Colt's are neat, but i don't see a reason to go AWD. FWD cars are just as fast as AWD. I'd rather bump that time and money into a bigger turbo or an EMS. Getting traction is the funnest part, the look on peoples faces when you break loose at 60mph is priceless.

the concept of a 4g63t colt is this;

SUPER SLEEPER

be the fastest car in any contest of speed, while retaining stock appearance and(maybe) idle/sound.

awd only serves to make that concept come true, as high power cars are limited to traction.

If speed kills, then i shoulda been dead awhile ago. There is no such thing as "Too Much Power". There is no excuse for a lost race. Do you view the rev limiter as a fun limiter?or as a shift point? And we all know, more boost=more fun.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's funny [as mentioned in the thread earlier] the looks on peoples faces as your pull on em, roasting tires at 60 mph.

But imagine bumping off of the rev limiter at 5500, and atomizing
an EVO8 from off of the line

If you are a drag only car, and don't have to worry about street conditions and tire issues, than FWD is just fine. AWD still kicks ass on the track, but i've seen many numbers i'd be happy with just having a FWD car.

For the street though. Which is where my car roams. AWD would dominate about everything thrown at it.

Its funny I was watching a vid of Tom and Gail racing their Mirage and EVO8 respectively - there is something to be said for AWD traction and launches, but their is also something to be said for passing the AWD in your FWD like it was standing still a few seconds later. :D

400Lbs ligter with fat chicks in the car. The litest DSM was Seans 1g at 2500# Full pro car, Brads Car weighs 2100 with him in it so lets say 1900, I know brad weighs at least 200 pounds and lets just say I am being nice. A AWD conversion can't add more then 300lbs. And brads car has more weight that can come out. I think really what it comes down to is what you want to do with your vechcile, if its a straight drag car, your fine on a good susspension and soem slicks. If you wanna do a lil street racing I think a AWD Colt will destroy all-no one expects it

Well I have had a 300HP Mirage in the past, it was fast and fun but could never run better then a 11.9 in the 1/4 even with slicks.

So I have already started the conversion on one Mirage and will start mine next to AWD. Traction is what I want and even adding some weight in exchange for the traction I say is worth it.

I have had the luxury of being like underdog levaing people in the dust making them wonder what just happend, yet now with traction I feel I will be alot better at blowing peoples minds.

i owned alot of awd dsms and man they kick ass but, its fun though with my hyundai seeing how no one expects to see the car move the way it does. also people look at you like you got 2 heads when they see a hyundai/colt/mirage spining so much that they think that its faster than it really is. awd is awesome though, i love the awd launch and they are so much better from a dig but fwd owns from a roll.

the only reason why i what awd is that i getting rid of my truck that doesnt have a extended cab for my 1 year old daughter, so i kinda need a awd 4 door and i dont have the money for a evo right now. so i guess a awd swap is the next best thing for me seeing its going to be a daily driver.

Nope.. Last year i couldnt get better then 2.1 60's.

Last night, with SHIT tires. and crazy rear camber. I was cutting 1.7's all night long. I'd say it well worth it
