Ok guys. I've been busy and it has been too long since I made a global news update.

I just finished setting up a new gallery located here:

http://gallery.4g61t.org

This replaces the old gallery at http://www.4g61t.org/gallery. I will be getting rid of this one soon. Site members can register for accounts. If you register you get 10 meg of free space to stuff images and whatnot into. This is great for for sale items or pictures of your car for questions etc.

If you donate $10 to the site, your quota is bumped up to 250 meg of space.

I currently have no restrictions on file size or image size. Just a limit on the total space used per user. Accounts require approval before they become active. Obvious sanity rules apply (no nudity/offensive pictures, no excessive bandwith use, etc)

Ditto on what akdriverjd said. Once I get my account setup on Paypal figured out again, I'll be ready to talk some business until then I'll keep the pic count down. 8)

Yay! :D I put my pics in. I was a bit scared being unfamiliar with the whole proceedure but it was easy. Silly me put my name in there though so now my secret alias is revealed. Go have a look under "Jamie Varacalli". Any comments (hopefully nice ones) are appreciated.

Just an FYI to new members.... it may take me a few days to get my butt into the admin panel to activate new accounts.

I just thwacked two accounts. One request came in on the 20th. Oops.

Well at least I did it before December :)

how many typical pics can you fit in with 10 meg and if im in for 10.00 how many can i put in there with 200 meg? Also, do i just email you the pics to you and you put them in. You have to understand that this is the first time i have ever done something like this.....

You do everything through the web page. You can even use XP's "publish to web" feature. That is pretty neat.

If you resize the pictures when you upload them, you can cram a pretty large amount in there. Gallery supports all the resizing on the web server side.

My 4mp camera's images are on average 2meg per image. So without resizing that is 5 images for 10 meg or 100 images for 200 meg. Don't forget too that when you upload to the gallery it creates (usually) 3 images per one you upload. The thumbnail, the resized image and the original.

All the options are user changable. You can have it just create 640x480 images and delete the originals. That would save TONS of space.

The only reason I don't force that on users is sometimes you just need a really high res image. (see my ecu pix for an example)

I made a donation greater than $10 to Jason back in 2001 when the site first began. Does that qualify me for 250 mb of space or do I have to make another donation?

Also, how does one go about checking their remaining available space? I haven't uploaded anything yet so I suppose it may tell me then.

Thanks,
