its a 89 colt with the 63 swap.. still fwd (ftl)... made 2 passes...first one with a friend to watch my wideband and 2nd solo....at the time was very dissapointed untill I cooled down a bit and thought about it.. then i became semi happy lol.....its been 2 years since ive ran at the track also...

bottom end is a fully build 2.3 stroker with a stock head and cams up top...660 inj on 91 oct gas....cheapo tubular manny with a stock 14b...running stock 8-9 psi...and street tires...first pass I rolled off the line like at a stop light...spun thru 2nd.....2nd pass..launched at 2k and spun all thru 2nd... im sure it was spiining in 3rd both passes but not as noticable as in 1st and 2nd...god I cant wait for the awd so I can get a bigger turbo lol...heres my times..

1st pass..(with passenger)
r/t .803
60' 2.615
330 6.812
1/8 10.035
mph 77.26
1000 12.750
1/4 15.078
mph 96.80

2nd pass (solo 2k launch)
r/t .788
60' 2.445
330 6.522
1/8 9.677
mph 79.12
1000 12.347
1/4 14.633
mph 98.73

so all in all with stock turbo and boost..on street tires I dont think I did all that bad. :partyman:

also next step im gonna throw my race head on it since no one wanted to buy it I might as well use it..then ill run it again...till next time..peace out

Steve

You weren't spinning 3rd, I dead hook in 3rd at the track running 22 psi on a 16g. Not bad for your first time out, turn the boost up and watch your trap speeds rise!

Good numbers, a little more wheel time and some traction and you'll be set. :D Damn it, I wish had the money for slicks so I can run my car this month too!

so I ran it again last friday... made 4 passes almost all identical and same as my first solo run... each pass was a 14.5 -14.6 and all were 97 and 98 mph.. very very consistant concidering my launches were from rolling off the line to a 1500 rpm launch to 2500 to 3500...all spinning into 3rd..

I did find a issue tho.... i set my safc for rev only to log my highest rpm...... 6388 was max.. felt like no more power was available... last pass when I launched at 3500.. I turned boost up to 14 psi... and it topped out at 6836 rpm's... so I think the stock 14b doesnt like the 2.3 much lol..but it was wierd cause even tho I went from 9 to 14 psi..and launched harder... it still ran the same time/mph.. only diff is my 60' went from 2.3 to 2.5 on the last run.... over all im pleased that it is so consistant..

looking into getting a manny and wg to run my t67 and hopefully awd by march 2010.. then ill be happy.

till then.. have a great winter everyone.

You are exactly right sir. Your 14b simply isn't going to cut it, especially on the 2.3. At 16psi on my 2.0 gsx the 14b stopped making power at about 5700, at 14psi 6200. At the track by 3rd gear the car was so damn heat soaked it was ridiculous. I ran a 14.5@89 consistantly with the 14b no matter what boost I ran. On the same note I know there are cars out their running 12s on the 14b, it is a stout little turbo. My set-up just wasn't efficient enough for the turbo.

yeah theres definalty room for some improvement here...... even with the 14b.

My best on my 14b with stock 6 bolt 4g63 (FMIC, 16 psi, MAFT) was a 13.2 @ 108MPH

Granted my colt is a bit lighter then a 3G hatch... but still, i was only running 205 street tires with crap tread and i was still able to pull 2.0-2.2 60's. What size tires you runnning

Keep working on those launches!! You will get it eventually.

Also how are the shifts? Granny shifting it? I slam mine into gear so hard i swear sometimes the gears are going to fly out of the tranny... but they dont lol.

You SHOULD be able to hit 12's on a 14b in these cars...With meth injection and 20 PSI of boost and a set of slicks i bet high 11's would even be possible.

The 14b with a big IC (such as an stock evo piece) runs out of power at 5800ish rpms, no point in shifting higher than that. Do a huge burnout and turn your street tires into slicks like I do.

It's all wheel drive with a ACT 2600 so no I don't slam gears. Already had to replace the tranny because I was launching it too hard. Then the case cracked, fixed that then just recently sold it. With my mirage on the other hand, I will be shifting hard and hope to hit 12s on 101 pump and a 20g at 20psi with street tires.

ran again last night..been trying to get this thing tuned for the past 2 weeks. (speed density with jackal)..and I suck at it lol.

anyways I have since upgraded to a real evo3 turbo..at 24-25 psi..on drag radials @ 16psi.

1st pass red lighted..2.175 60' ran 13.484 @ 105.58 with a crappy ass burnout..still spun thru 1st..
2nd pass..missed 2nd gear (first time in 2 years with this car).2.149 60' ran 14.470 @ 100.56..still bad burnout.
3rd pass..better burnout..great launch..2.169 60' ran 13.730 @ 102.74..

only launching between 2500 and 3k..still spinning in 1st
both pass 2 and 3 it felt like it had little to no power above 6000...I know this has a mid to low 12 pass in it once properly tuned...

for now boost is getting set to min..till I can figure this damn tuning issue out.. also hoping to be AWD by march 1st 2012 also. FWD scares me lol.

I think you have A LOT to gain in your tune still. In my old red hatch I was trapping 113-115 mph with a big16g @ 24 psi (fwd). Now in my awd sedan I run consistent 12.5-6 @ 107-8 with a 14b @ 20psi. I'm switching to a holset soon to see how fast it will go with a real turbo.
