you are a rookie awd owner. i have been to the track a million times with my awd dsm. 16g and supporting mods on stock suspension. on fireston lemans (cheapest all season 16 inch tires), i can pull 1.63-1.65s 60ft time repeatedly. the tricks is to slip the clutch at 5500-6000rpm with the ebrake holding the car on the line. front tires at 20psi and back tire at 18psi. you might want to start at 22psi and go down. hold on to the steering wheel tightly because you are into for a good suprise. i did this without the two step.

I'm a rookie AWD owner? Negative. I've been into DSM's since 1999. Have you ever tried launching an AWD DSM that actually has more than 300hp? I think you'll find that it's a bit more difficult than your typical 16g-powered car.

I had a 16g setup back in the day. I ran 12.3 @ 110mph, and had a best trap of 112.97mph. This was a Small 16g no port or clip, stock cams, stock bottom-end, top-to-bottom FMIC, 550cc injectors, 110 octane fuel, 22-24psi. Best 60 foot was a 1.73. Stock suspension. Stock wheels. T-rated all-season Smokemaster 5,000 tires.

What you aren't realizing is that the track we were racing on is not a real racetrack. It's set up in the parking lot of our local football stadium. It's a joke. Wheelspin issues are notorious down there, especially when you're driving a 500hp car with street tires, and it's a 45-degree night.

You need a REAL driver to take your car down the 1320. I've been known to cut some wicked 2.28 60's with my colt.

Tonight was a huge, embarrasing failure for myself. Dan did pretty well. I realized that I can't drive for shit, and that track is awful. My best 60' of the evening was a whopping 2.0. Best ET was an 8.2, and best trap was 92.9mph. On my 4th pass I blew a heater hose and discovered what appeared to be oil in my coolant, so I didn't do anymore racing after that. I managed to make it home by cutting the hose and re-clamping it after where it had cracked, but that also broke about 100 feet from my driveway. Oh, I also killed my 2nd-gear synchro--stock trannies suck!
I did the same thing one time :( Covered the whole track in coolant and didn't even know :(. I was ~1hr away from home and ghetto rigged it to make it.

Didn't you know, the more hp that you have, the more traction you get :) Its all relative.

Don't the police walk through the parking lot there and write peoples shit down? Seems like making an appearance there would almost not be smart.

Nah. That happened once, and the cop that did it got in BIG trouble. You don't have to worry about getting popped down there, but lots of cops hang out at the exit for when all the ricers leave and race each other down the freeway. You just have to aware of your surroundings.

Ah well at least they are trying to help you guys, even though the track might not be ideal, it is a controlled environment.

Yeah, it helps. 99% of the people down there are having a blast. It's the people who have serious drag cars that really don't like it that much.
