I can't stop thinking about building a drag colt/mirage/summit someday. I know this is a 3rd gen board but which would be the best platform to start. The 3rd gen would be the easiest because most things bolt right up or parts are available for the 4G63T swap. The 4th gen will need custom motor mounts made but besides that I don't know if there will be any other issues. Do axles fit without problems?

It is just harder to find a good (rust free) car to start such a project. Most 3rd gens are in poor shape. I love my Galant but can't see myself stripping down such a nice car for drag racing. This is the only topic I could find is my search. I have been reading this site for years and I have to say you guys have some awesome cars.

Which gen did I have guys-I dont even know?!

http://thelotspot.com/images/jp/action/ ... C00179.JPG

I have had an 89gt, built a few others, and this car pictured. I would say my 93 is the "best" simply because of its

1)longer wheel base

2)lighter chassis

Everything else is relative or would be changed anyways.

JP, you had a 4th gen.

JP is dead on about the weight of the car and the longer wheel base is going to be a plus when you launch the car.

Plus the car is much more aerodynamic than a 3g... and attractive, which doesn't do much.

Looks is a matter of opinion, either can look hot-especially with some cyborg bodywork on a hatch.

But yes, it does have better aero as well. I will say it needs some help past 190mph though. :(

Same with this dude...

Both of this above cars were swapped from 4th-Gen cars. The first car that I posted pics of is quite possibly the best conversion EVER done. It sort of helps when you have an EVO II parts car though I guess. Hehe. GODDAMN I wanna build one of these things. That 2nd car I posted ran 8's by the previous owner.

The First one has the good sticker on the back window too. 8)

The fist car is Yusef-Low 10's with our Manifold and a MP 70. Its a full street car, and I have some video of him race a few people up here-notable the Nations fastest street S4. I will see if I can find it. He does not do "Top End" pulls.

2nd guys in Mike R. He's a nut! He broke his rear end at NOPI, said F-it, and raced the car FWD to try and qualify!! Car has easily gone low 9's and is still being dialed in. Although he has not done a good top speed run, he will be going to Maxton (http://www.ecta-lsr.com/) or with me to flog some Supras in Texas (http://www.texasmile.com/). So, he will likely see some sick speeds very soon.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't know a coupe 4th gen was longer than the 3rd gen hatch, and lighter! I think I would rather build a coupe than a sedan anyway.

LOL, yeah, Riechen breaks EVERYTHING. Poor guy. That car is awesome though, that manifold does funny things to my sex organs. Yusuf's car is also amazing, and that guy is one hell of a good drag racer. People in Illinois don't seem to be too concerned with freeway racing or top-end pulls for that matter, they'd rather take it to the track. I guess it's safer that way, hehe.

Yeah they are. Adam used to work on my car back in the day when he also worked for TAD motorsports. Another one of my good friends does the books for DEVO. Adam certainly knows how to build cars.

Oh, I guess it was TAD then.

I had a customer from Antigua asking if we build the manifolds for that guy from TAD motorsports...I was like. Umm, I think so?

I though ADAM used to wrech at AMS in there better days...

I like them both, I won a 89 Mirage turbo and I plan on building a 4g mirage AWD next year. Already have the EVO 2 F+R bumpers, fenders, lights etc and a set of cusco coilovers for a evo 1-3. Just waiting to find the right car.
