there's this argument on running lsd for DRAG RACING

guy 1; running front wheel drive with big power and without lsd is good. the power is instant.

guy 2; running front wheel with big power and lsd is good. gives equal power to both wheels.

does running without lsd is good for drag? any input guys?

You'll want an LSD for launching. Even at stock power levels it will make a difference. Also, your tranny and axles will live longer. :D

I would agree that it is not neccessary based on experience. When I started making a lot of power in my Omni both tires seem to spin about the same off the line.
Also, If your car is well balanced it won't matter for drag racing. For example you can preload your suspension or add weight over the tire that has a tendency to spin. Turbododge guys (2.2,2.5 turbo cars) add an air shock to the passenger side rear and/or put a block of wood between the sway bar and the K frame to preload the suspension.

You will be a one wheel wonder if you make big power period, imo big power is 500 plus WHP. a LSD IMO is a must.

on our colt with an evo16g at 21ish psi would walk 3rg gear all over the road with 225 series tires, now with a sleeper 16g(20g guts) and a sbr lsd it doesnt walk near as bad at 18psi.

"Without LSD the power is instant"

??

Do you think the LSD has to spool up or something? Does he think it's a torque converter or what? :x

Exactly like that. Your LSD trip has to spool up before you get insane.

Edit: I just couldn't resist pulling that pun. :D

do you like that sleeper 20g over the evo3 turbo?

i love it, ,it looks like a 14b, spools a bit slower than the 16g, is ALOT louder, and is more streetable, we can really hammer 2nd gear now with the lsd and this turbo due to slower spool, it doesn't just spin them like mad. a bigger exhuast is in the works to take full advantage of more airflow.

and the efficiency range of the turbo starts at 17-18ish psi, so as boost is clibing, it is like a light switch, "on" when boost climbs up there.

yeah most mitsu turbos are like an off/on switch :)

it is tempting - would be a LOT of fun for me to slap on that turbo and head out to our local getogethers - everyone knows i am rocking a 14b no one would notice
