robert, could u tell us some easy weight reduction steps to achieve that awesome curb weight. Its the only thing thing on your list that was free! lol
thanks
On your junkyard suspension, did you have to cut your front springs two coils like it says on the archives and is the drop about 2 inches? Should i do this while saving up for a "real" suspension, is it worht the effort?
Heh, the weight reductions are pretty intense, no A/C or any related components, no P/S, no radio or speakers. All rear interior and carpet is gone, removed sound deadinging material behind dash (actually really heavy) Removed those heavy passive seat belts, swiss cheesed the bumpers. This isn't my daily driver anymore so I did some things I wouldn't normally do.
The SMIC and 2.0 T/B were dirt cheap from a junk yard as well and the porting work I did myself so that was free too.

The supension works great as far as my launches and handling are concerned. Yes I had to cut two coils from the front and its a bumpy ride but with the car as light as it is there is just the right amount of suspension movement when launching.

I've always been told the Azenis launch best when cold and I think an import magazine confirmed this, I need to go back and look in my stack of old mags.

First of all you should see his dash, and how thin he is ;). Bobby is actually at the track as we speak trying to get the first 13 sec 1/4 out of a CSM in colo. I'm sure he'll inform us how it went tomorrow, but if he doesn't get it today (it's pretty hot right now), i'm gonna try and beat him to it next week.

Well, temperatures were up in the high 80's but the car was running great. I just couldn't get my 60's down where they were but I had a lot more power down the strech. I ran 14.0 three times though my trap speeds were 3-4 mph faster than before, my 60' were in the 2.35 range compaired to the 2.1's I had gotten before. The cheap 175/65 14's are spinning all the way through second gear now, time for some real tires.

1000 11.82 11.75
1/4 14.063 14.077
mph 100.97 97.57

I ran 8 times and all runs were between 14.0 and 14.3...pretty consistent for a FWD.
