Why are so many of you running such slow times?

i bet you anything that most of the people here doing the bad times is because we dont have access to a market that offers us direct bolt on 3" exhaust turbo back systems for the csm's.

people people theres nothing wrong with just unbolting the downpipe for the track. ;) just remember to turn your boost down a bit.

Are you implying that we run straight out the O2 sensor housing!!! BAD, to much heat in the engine bay not to mention every DSM and CSM that I've seen do this has massive knock readings causing the ECM to pull back almost all the timing. This means you will lose every bit of power you gain'd from dropping the exhaust, probably more power down the stretch. Then there is the pain of diconnecting the battery to erase the knock from the ECM's memory. EEEK.

Maybe most of the offshore '61-63t's are AWD.

This topic was started specifically for FWDs and there are more FWDs down here than 4WDs.

As for bolt on 3" systems- I've never heard of any for a mirage - no such thing. Everything is custom for them down here. Its just as hard to find parts as you Americans.

damn that sucks i thought it would be easy for u guys to.

and for the downpipe thing. hey if u dont want to dont do it. i do it all the time and car pulls like crazy, less pressure on the exhaust side is less pressure in the exhaust side no matter how its lowered. as for the knock!!! you may very well much so be right, but i havnt noticed it. and usually you can feel when the car pulls timing because of knock. it does make sence what your sayin tho.

Offtopic question.
Has anybody tried to put supercharger/compressor instead of turbo? Not necesserily on 4G63T/4G61T, but maybe on NA engine?

12.37 overhere with stock piping (1g IC) 16g on 18psi ;)

dsm guys are broke people, but i think we are even more!
getting the car to run properly and to put the power on the ground instead of smoke in the air is sometimes pretty expensive with a 15 years old CSM ;)

Perhaps it has to do withe stock power levels of the cars in NZ. Arent they basically JDM? Better tuned ECU's, more power, less emission related crap. I dont know about 1-2 seconds difference, but it could surely account for a few tenths.

Yeah, 95% of our vehicles are JDM, at this point, I'm fairly sure that it boils down to elevation/density altitude, I didn't realise how much of a difference it could make...

I have always wondered the same thing. Everyone here does a 2.0L swap and cant run 12s because of traction I know. There is a guy localy here in memphis who ran a 12.3@107 with only a starion front mount, act clutch 93 octane and 12psi. But before the slicks and lowered he couldnt pull better than 14s. And in my own car at the track with a 2.4 spraying a 100 shot of gas i couldnt pull better than a 14.3 @96, because it spun the tires off untill 3rd gear So I guesn from what ive seen the main factor in going fast in a csm is traction and suspention

I'm tempted to do a FWD project next, I've seen some fantastic traction bar setups give huge results on some cars, we have a 11 second NA Integra over here that could just haul off the line like it was awd, surely there must be some basic 'recipe' that one cold follow for traction...

BIG SLICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That will fix us

I'm running 1.6 60 foot times, but the slicks make all the difference in the world! I'm running 26x8.5x15 ET slicks and they hook like you wouldn't believe! I still have a factory diff. I'm getting ready to put a built tranny in with a welded diff and I'll let you know how it much it helps.
