Some of you remember I got this tatty 1.3 Colt six years ago
Image

Car is my holiday beater in Cyprus, an island in the Mediterranean. It looked decent enough, clear coat peel on the hood and roof plus the usual roof rust, aggravated by the coast and humidity. Okay so it drove and run.

I have done a minimal of maintenance to the car.. Think I got it with 32k miles, now it has 39k. Oil changes bi-annually, I've replaced the top strut mounts and a fuel line.. Can't think of anything else. This is how it looked 2012

It got hit sometime parked into last year, looking even more sorry for itself.. Note the JDM Mirage turns/markers I yarded

So last year I came to the point where I yarded decent parts

And primered the whole car to make it one color

And went rallying

This year I've been working on cleaning it up.. It passed state inspection with flying colors so it's good for two more years. The roof has flaked a little, the hood which was black last summer has flaked a lot.. Probably will be flat brown together with the rest of the car sometime, maybe next year.. Fitted Mirage turns in the bumper and wired up the bumper lights to work with the side markers, essentially made a harness to replace the stock Euro 5w setup.. The only OG wires that have been stripped are 1/4" of the front turns. I bought new plates, square plates front and rear to go with the JDM look.. Essentially it's wired like a US car with a JDM look on a Euro car.. I like it :)

There were two kinds of stock rear euro bumpers.. As you can see in the first picture the plate originally rests between the tails. On my yarding adventures last year I found a Mirage heckblende and in my primer adventures I realized the stock euro bumper I had was essentially a JDM bumper with a cover for the euro cars. Four screws later the cover was off, glued the heckblende in place and re-located the plate to the bumper

I still have the stock plates and haven't done anything that makes me unable to turn the car back to euro look in the future if I wish to do that.. However, I'm quite happy with the way the car is turning out. Oh and I installed a rev counter sourced from the same JDM Mirage. Not bad for a holiday beater for minimum effort and resources  My roof is still rusty, has holes and leaks water, the carpets are green instead of blue, but the car cruises happily at 75 mph sipping fuel and costing me little, having been a trooper for the past six years. I intend to keep it for years still - my respect for this car is huge, even though it's not either pristine or my money pit :)

They're great little cars. They only turn into headaches when you decide to swap them.

I like how the front bumper lip seems more integrated than than ours.
