Somehow these broken Mitsubishis' keep finding me. I stumbled across a 92 Eclipse GS on Craigslist with a bad auto transmission, he was asking $600. I offered $400 since I honestly didn't need it and he had a few more interested so I left my info. About 4 hours later he texted me back and dropped it to $500, I held my ground kinda hoping he'd stay firm since I didn't need another car anyway. He then agreed to $400 so I kept my word and went to pick it up. It had been sitting for roughly a year and covered in dirt. It really surprised me how well it actually cleaned up. Looks like I'll be hitting the yard looking for parts for a manual swap. Feels so weird behind the wheel of another 1g, especially a na one but it should make a decent, cheap DD once its back on the road. Oh yeah, rust free with 135K on the odometer.

That's a killer score for $400, nice job! I hate how the rear bumpers on those things always look wavy like that.

Yeah, that is a helluva deal for $400. Congrats!

I remember driving an NA 1g Talon with manual tranny years ago. It felt so weird cause the shifter felt like it wasn't attached to anything at all. It was so smooth compared to my AWD and my AWD even shifted nice!

My 92 GSX had the same problem on the rear bumper, guess all of the 1gb eclipses do. All these big plans were going through my head at first, a 1gb talon bumper swap, maybe a turbo engine, some different wheels, but then I came back down to reality and figured I just need to get it running so that I can drive it. Then maybe later on we'll throw some more parts at it.

Had it not been for the price and the fact that it was all stock and everything was there I would have passed on it. But at the time I knew I couldn't lose for $400.

Gizmo, I'll trade you for the supertop. 8)

Not sure what's wrong with the trans. It'll go in reverse but does nothing in drive. The P/O changed the filter and fluid because the empty box was in the hatch and the pan has orange sealant all over it  . I figure its just easier to do a manual swap since there are so many dsm's sitting around. I had a 92 TSi awd that had a bad TCU but it did take off in 3rd. Pretty sure its the actual trans on this one though.

Thanks for the offer on the pedal but I need the shifter and stuff too. I can probably get it for less than shipping will cost on that one. If it was the only thing I needed I would take you up on it.

Wow that's an awesome $400 car. I would have had to buy it too, despite already having three running cars on the road for my own personal use. LOL

Haven't even tried the AC but I somehow doubt it. Prob needs some work and a r134 conversion but I'll get it going.

Awesome score Chris!

If you want a non-cracked manifold or even a tubular one for better flow I have them.

I also have a shift lever assembly (91+) if you want/need one.
Let me know.

Shawn, I have an oem header here from an expo and from what I read the 16v sohc head has the same pattern as the dohc so it should work. I'm sure it will have to be modded to fit the dsm down pipe though.
