Post subject:  Finally New paint on the DSM!

Some of you may remember my old posts about getting a paintjob for my not-so-daily driver. I had some problems with the painter and ended up painting the front bumper (which took me about a month and a half working weekends to finish the body work), the rear tail lens center piece, and most of the side trim with a friend. Finally, she is back on the streets, not FULLY together, but for the most part its done. More pics soon, and I plan on getting a video of this beast at 25PSI.

Last one is with a cell phone... Overall the paintjob is great! Its not 100% perfect, however, as the front bumper I did mostly by myself and I am no expert on working with fiberglass. A word to the wise, never purchase a cheap fiberglass bumper. This thing wouldn't even bolt up to the car when I first got it. I am happy with the result though, as this is a street beater and not a showcar.

I'll have to get that for you, I still have some paint left over. Its called "Hyper White"...I know that much.

A little info on the car, I swapped the factory hood for a Vis Carbon Fiber hood, it has ICW wheels, and the windows are now tinted 8)

A little more info.... its sporting a 2.0L with 2G pistons, stock HG, FP1 cams, FIC 1000's, and DsmLink. The turbo is a Slowboy GT-12 that I got a really good deal on, but I would LOVE a FP3052. Before the paint I had it at 25PSI, but right now my Turbosmart is acting up so its at about 12 PSI. Still fun though...but not like it was.

Looking good man, I was actually thinking about this car just the other day. I remember seeing the thread on it a while back but couldn't remember if you ever finished it or not.

That paint job came out really nice. It's a hell of alot better than my rattle can job...lol Seriously though, I'm in total agreement with canada4g63. I LOVE a white 1g. I got to experience CaptainTonus's car in action. It's a hot car man. You've got a role model to follow...lol Get us a video!

Thanks for the compliments guys! I was scared the front bumper would crack or chip but so far it has seen 140MPH and plenty of bumps on the shitty Alabama roads with no problems. I'm having the wierdest boost control issue: I set the boost controller to any setting and I either get boost spike to 20PSI, returning back to 10-12 psi, a very slow spool to about 12psi, or occasionally a great spool to 12 psi. I have tried messing a little with the boost controller just turning the boost up or down with no change in behavior....and its a BRAND NEW turbosmart dual stage. I'm pissed. The boost spike is making it hard for me to tune, but it feels pretty good at 11:1 at 12 psi....just gotta get the boost solid at 25 :D

Still having trouble with the boost controller, but tonight I took her out for some fun. Does anyone know about how fast I would be traveling at 6500 RPM's with a 10% taller fifth gear? This is all I got to see :)

Assuming stock tire diameter, and the accuracy of the gauges, because the manual states for an almost 15-20 km sway total in high speed ranges like 140 KMH (85mph?) (7-10km+/-) from the actual KMH or adjust for MPH, with stock tire diameter.

I used a gear calculator assuming stock tire size

I used a gear calculator for 225/45/R17's and got about 156MPH. It was a little disappointing because I wanted it to be 160+ but overall satisfied. Now if I can only get it past 12PSI.... I don't want to go back to a single stage MBC, but may have no choice.

Got a little video. It sucks, especially after I loaded it into .flv format....plus I gotta fire the camera-girl. She can't seem to hold the camera straight, haha.

Enjoy.....boost is 14 PSI in these runs. You hear the boost spike as the car goes apeshit at 20PSI and then it drops back to 14PSI and it takes longer to go through the gear. I have a new boost controller on the way. Perhaps 25PSI by next week :D

Finally got to the track. Still having issues with boost. 13.5 at 10PSI...not bad for a turbo thats supposed to be at 20+ PSI. Got it up to 17-18PSI later that night. Not on the track though. On a good note, I finally got to see my buddies' Evo X's in action. Pretty nice cars. Mitsu did well on them. Enjoy the pics!
