Well I finally was convinced by Eric (89mirageturbo) and Jim (his dad) to make the leap to AWD. We started late Saturday afternoon and just finished another night for only a few hours. To top off the AWD I will be using the automatic I pulled a couple of months ago. I plan to build the tranny with IPT stuff (performance rebuild, end clutch kit, shift kit, manual valve, restalled converter). I already have the car setup for AWD in the front and really just need to do the rest of the rear end and then drive shaft and install the tranny and transfer case and I should be rocking for a tune with the new link and hopefully making it to the track. Big thanks to Eric and Jim for all the help thus far and forward moving.
some pics are attached.

I am one of the few if not the only running an auto as is right now. so I think that I can comfortably I am. it should be interesting. A lot of full weight 1g's run tens pulling 1.3-1.6 sixty foots with the same tranny setup I will have, but uaually run bigger turbos fp3065's etc. So with the weight being 3300 pounds in a light 1g car. I bet I will weigh in at about 2500ish pounds with me in it dropping about 800 pounds will net me at least a half second faster in the 1/4 than other 16g powered cars and put me in the low 12's. all theory though.

In theory I would speculate that a well set-up 16g car can run those times without the aid of an auto or 4wd.

Could it be that you're just trying to over compensate for lack of skill or perhaps talent? I wonder... tell me about your childhood

what did you run with your car pal?
also this setup is going to be more for a large turbo where FWD just would not be enough.....

I am always up for a race (at the track). could your old body take that kind of beating?

I am currently running a stock converter FWD but will probably go to a 4 k ish stall.

I honestly thought about throwing an auto trans in my car for this season to see what it would do . I have access to the entire set up

it is a different kind of fast.... going from a 5spd to a auto is amazing. imagine your car pulling like a 5 spd, but never shifting and just keeps pulling....

This will be interesting. I am looking foward to seeing how it performs. Are you having your stock converter modified or are you buying a completely new one?
