Post subject:  Woohoo - Finally running

Finallly got my old A176 Lancer running today.

It had a clogged fuel filter - fuel pressure dropped out as soon as the engine started.

so, bought the car for £250, then a new windscreen (from Mitsubishi), distributor cap, rotor arm, all brake hoses and pipes, pads and discs, tyres, brake caliper carrier, turbo seals and gaskets....

Now just need one hoses and a radiator and it's ready to race!

I'd forgotten how much fun driving sideways was....

I had to trailer it down to my work, get 6 new tyres, all new brake pads, discs, flexi hoses, metal pipes, brake fluid, handbrake cables, one new brake caliper carrier and two brand new slide bolts to match, distributor cap, leads, plugs and rotor arm.

Also a brand new windscreen from a Mitsubishi official dealer (nearly resulted in court action when they took my money, gave me a written quote and the refused to supply it).

I'll upload a couple of video clips once I take them (more annoying my boss - car currently has no silencers on the exhaust system at all!).

That's a G63B if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like it's coming along nicely! Now it needs some bodywork. But you already knew that.

Bonnet's £100, Doors are £60 for the rear and £25 for the front (each).

I don't have that kind of money right now though.

But it's for track use, so I'm not that bothered.

I've been doing a few burnouts in the yard already, I'm taking it the 1/4 mile and skidpan tommorrow, so I'll post a link to the timesheet later.

It's not running right under boost yet though, as the boost pressure sensor's goosed.

Yes, It's a 4G63B - 2.0l 8v turbo (TC05).

more pics/video clips tommorrow.

Crail's timeslip links haven't been updated yet!

Ran 15.5 @ 94mph - slightly disappointing actually, as the 4G32B Colt turbo ran 15.9 @ 88mph.

Had some fun on a skidpan, and got beat by an Impreza who was shocked he only beat me by 0.4 of a second.

I'll post a clip later.

Got the boost problem sorted, and I ran it all day with a major water leak (radiator in about a dozen places) and a minor oil leak (turbo return pipe gasket).

Also got the spare upper pipe fitted with the flang for the dump valve (BOV), fitted the boost gauge ad ripped out the last of the interior (the dash) - there's now just the bare instrument panel, a bunch of switches and the heater controls inside.

I'm having a helluva time figuring out the induction system. Is that carburated or injected? That's either the funkiest carburetor I've ever seen, or the first Mitsu injection system I am aware of that doesn't use a MAF.

The MAF is the regular Vortex thingy - inside the air filter housing on the left.

It's a twin injector TBI, just like the Starion.
