Post subject: | 4g15 Turbo |
I finished my 1.5 turbo setup last week but I didnt have much drive time. One single race on the freeway with a first gen MR2 killed my rings. I smoked him(short lived). So yesterday I tore it apart and I'm going to install crome rings and possibly a thicker head gasket if I anyone knows where I can find one? It'll be back together in about a week or so and then I will bring my new setup to the rest of the 4G61t population. I will post picks and a full write. Also pics of my new 95 Subee Impreza bumper. later guys |

I've heard the 4G61T pistons fit the 4G15 w/ some machine work on the con rods and a little boring of the block... ![]() |

oh, that... it was total sleeper, a subaru turbo, mounted on a flange after where the flexpipe used to be, BEHIND the motor, under the intake manifold. from what a local soob dood said, the turbo only produces 6-9 psi, and the wastegate should be set around 7ish, so he figured it was a great turbo to use on a previously NA motor....ummm no. it still killed the pistons, but really, we didnt expect it to hold forever. we are currently looking down empty cylinders at the crank, and thinking, " what TURBO motors have pistons that will fit this with minimal boring? " does anyone have access to a victor reinz, or frienz, or whatever it is, the gasket catalog? or perhaps a clevite bearing book will have bore/stroke? anyone? also, there is a 4.0 liter jeep exhaust mani on the floor of the shop, with some good mandrel bends in it, and my bro is an awesome welder, so a turbo manifold may be in the works...more to come. I will get a few pics of stealthpony's 95 soob bumper tomorrow, i promise. |

on that site, it says that the c10 mirage turbo (g32b) pistons are 77mm, and the 4g15 is 75.5mm, so are the g32b pistons forged? what is the wristpin height? does anyone have a set lying around that they could donate to a good cause? or we could work a deal...i dunno, i think that if the 4g61 pistons supposedly fit then these would be easier...wow, i dint even find the forged 4g15 ones, but this gives me more to think about... thanks all ~joe |

Sorry for the further Klingon jacking of the thread ... *no fart can's or DC headers will be harmed in the making off this post* 1978 351 Windsor 5.8L block - well seasoned Truck motor - all rude edges ground down - needs boring to .040" oversize - crank needs .010" under on rod journals, 0.010" under on main journals - have two front cover/fuel pump plates 1 for EFI 1 for carb fuel pump - no intake/carb came with motor - but Ebay has tons of this stuff cheap!!! - rods need checking (high mileage) - pistons are scrap (still attached to rods/pins) - harmonic dampener, couple pulleys, pwr string pump, 2 sets valve covers 1978 351 ..... head x2 - well seasoned 1.78" intake, 1.45" exhaust - large CC comb. chamber head design for smog motor / heads decked can't remember - tanked and magnafluxed - no rust - clean casting - valves seats already cut for stock sized valves (box of spares not complete though...) - intake has 1 angle cut - new seats all around (?) - ports are excellent for 302 conversion, as yet unmolested ports and bowls!! - stock screw in valve train studs - 3/8" - not included I didn't get them ![]() Anymore info can be provided upon request. Thanks for the question Kyle ![]() |
