Got the 4g15 running today. Busted one drive shaft outer hub seal when I settled the motor/transmission combo into the engine bay (20 hr's later) don't ask, I should have been on drugs to have taken that long but I got past it. After disconnecting the fuel injector connectors, to build up oil pressure first, the engine spun real fast, like no-load/accesories fast. Thought hmmm, but went ahead anyways. Turns out that I was getting no compression because all of the exhaust valves were floating (doh way to tight).
To make a long story short, the exhaust valves had been reground as well as their seats. I figured, as the did the machinist, that after he reground a little off the top of the valve, that they wouldn't be too tight. Boy was I wrong. Problem averted and then car started on first crank.
New Speed-Pro rings, port matching, and combustion chamber/light bowl work are about the extent of my custom work, besides having painted the whole darn thing. Main block, head, and transmission case are silver, valve cover is flat black, and the alternator/alt. pulley and coolant crossover tube are mellow yellow. Intake got a polish on the badge and silver paint to make it pop.
I wish I had a digi-cam but I'm sure that a pic will make its way here sometime.
Hope this promotes resurrecting a 4g15 from the ashes of oil burning hell!
