well, i am 17 and i work at the local Shell service station, its not a bad job

i also have some pointers for going into a gas station

1. ALWAYS be nice to the pump jockey, we have things that are not petrol to put in your tank e.g. sugar
2. DO NOT sit in your car and toot the horn to be served (read:above)
3. LPG (Propane) is the devil, if you own a Propane cylinder, kill yourself and save me the hassle
4. DO NOT have a loyalty card, as they are the Antichrist

thats all for now, i have just finished work, so i am rife with hate for everyone, customers suck

Can't remember the last time I saw a full service station, either in the US or Europe. Maybe early eighties in Spain.

New Jersey is chock full of 'em. I'm not sure if it's law or not, but there are NO self-serve stations in the entire state.

Here in Michigan we just fire up a cigarette and start pumping while the engine's still running. Dam cold winters!

While we're on this topic...
I got my Bachelors degreee from University of Wisconsin-Platteville about a month ago, majored in Industrial technology management and minored in plastic processing. Needless to say, I've been searching for a job to utilize my acquired skills for the last 6 months, and finally was offered a great postion.
Today I got hired on as a Manufacturing Engineer at a local injection molding firm about 25mins away from my house. I serve as the plant floor technician for all 28 of our injection presses, and am supervisor of a 10 person crew. They offer 70/30 health insurance, awesome 401K matching, 5 days vacation (almost unheard of for the first year of employment in the US), 11 holidays per year, and a salary that should supplement my automotive addiction quite nicely.
Its a great feeling after sending out piles of resumes and driving all over hell for interviews for the past 6 months!!!
Anyways, its my first 'real' job and I'm totally thrilled!!! :D :D :D
Thought I should share!
regards,
Paul A.

my first job @ 14 was working at an IGA in the little itty bitty tourist town that is home....

I was one of those carry out boys, fruit and banana, it was a lot of work... dodging stupid tourists who try to run me over, carrying 30 ro 40 lbs worth of groceries to the boat docks, all in hopes of a couple dollar tip
