Jason just let me in here so I figure I would post my idea here on how to swap your 4g61t for a 4g63t and possibly make money doing it!!

Here's how!!!

Send me three payments of $19.95 and I will send you a book that tells you everything you'll need to know!

But wait, that's not all! There's more!!

If you call within the next thirty minutes, for no additional cost I will throw in a box of Macaroni & Cheese! Yes, a $2.99 value for absolutely free!

Ok, anyway, enough of that. If you're still reading, here's my actual idea. And it could work too.

Find yourself a nice used 1g T/E/L with, most importantly, a good motor. Of course, lower the miles is generally better. Interior and exterior can be in kinda rough shape. You can clean it up when you get ready to sell the car. Sometimes since it's nice and clean you can sell it for more than what you paid. A little TLC goes a long ways. Anyway, now the secret part:

Swap motors before you sell the T/E/L. Put the 4g61t into the T/E/L, don't forget to swap valve covers so the 61t has the 2000 valve cover. Put the 63t in your Colt/Mirage. Sell the T/E/L for what you paid, or possibly a little more. Chances are people would be none the wiser they just bought a 1.6L T/E/L instead of a 2.0L one.

I should be a theif or something. :D

Oh yeah: I don't endorse doing anything illegal, nor have I done anything illegal. This information is purely for entertainment purposes only.

hahaha.... for being in a bad mood tonight, I sure bust myself up.

Hell, just swap it and don't hide that it was done. Don't advertise it though.

Make sure you have "As Is" in the description.

Then you get your "free" upgrade AND its legal.

Sometimes its best to hide things in plain sight.

Although if someone knew what to look for they would spot it :).

1) remove timing cover....where are the balance shafts???
2) why is the turbo so small???
3) Why does the intake look so weird???

Just playing devils advocate here, no offense intended :). Great post actually  .

There is another spot, on the block, right front and very low below the alternator, where the model is stamped in the metal. Also on the intake manifold. Still, unless the buyer was very knowledgeable, he/she won't notice. 'Course, the "as is" thing makes it all OK. Caveat emptor Bill Spruill

Geez, just put big vinyl 2F2F graphics all over it, a paper mache wing, extra-dark tint, Weapon-R seat covers, some cheapo neon lights and lots of LEDs, and a fresh coat of black spraypaint on the 16" steelies... Then put your old 4G15 under the hood. :P You'll have buyers lining up with way more money than smarts and they'll never look in the engine bay anyway. Works especially well if the DSM is a lime green 2G Eclipse.

I cannot believe I just condoned doing that to a DSM. Oh well, Trent started it. :P

Ummm, I'm doing that right now. I'm putting on a 1G intake and exhaust manifold, 14B, cams, MAF, and 450s. The valve covers are already swapped. I figure with those parts no one would be able to tell the difference power-wise anyway.

I'll tell them it's a 4G61, but to most people, that means nothing.
