If I would ever buy a new car it would most likely be a Ford. Me and a few different buddies have rented a couple different ones and they have all been really nice. We recently ended up with a Ford escape with the ecoboost motor and awd for our trip to World Cup Finals, we had a blast in it and beat the dog shit out of it.

This supposed to be a mini-suv concept but in my opinion this would look better like a Mirage/Colt in the dimensions of the newer 2014 Mirage...

Agreed. Remove some ground clearance, use rims with less *BLING* and it would be a "hot hatch".

In order to sell a car so cheap you have to cut corners somewhere. I read the entire review and although I don't like that green color, or any green for that matter, the guy really didn't have anything negative to say about it. Basically that it was a cheap car.

Before long, someone will toss on some big brakes and nice wheels and a 4B11T and maybe that will change your mind. :P

Also keep in mind. No mirage ever built was a really nice looking car. Just look at the 3g's. I love them but they're not exactly nice to look at.
Thank you Chris! I surely didn't want to sound like the odd man out but I would rock this car with no problem, (this coming from a guy that's owned 38 cars in the last 16 years that included such goodies as an 87 Renault Alliance L and a 76 Buick Skylark 4-door with an Olds 260 V-8). I rather like the humdrum looks and the fact that it's just the beginning of what could turn out to be a tuner's dream. A 4B11, some Evo brakes, some sick wheels, and a set of coilovers and you've got a fast, nimble, and unique car. Wow, you can tell that I've been into these little tin cans for wayyy too long.

I'd never pay $20K + for a Ford though.
Newer Fords are seriously nice. Nicer than anything Mitsu has come out with in the last 20 years, if ever. If I had the money, they would get it hands down. I seriously want a 2015 Mustang. I'd also take a Focus ST in a heartbeat.
Now, to also be fair here, Tony has a point. If I ever had 15k to spend and the choice of a Mirage or a 2 year old Fiesta ST came up, I would still probably buy the Ford. BUT, I drive past the old Ford dealership that I used to work at almost daily and they had a 2012 Focus ST in Tangerine Scream with a 6 speed and paint matching interior and I damn near fell in love with it. Honestly, how far has Ford come in the last 10 years? Look at the styling, look at the options, look at their range of models, they've come a LONG way since I owned my absolute least dependable vehicle ever, my old Exploder. Here's the kicker...they wanted $24,995 for a 2 year old Focus ST with 14,500 miles on it...I mean, the turbo model and looks of it only go so far with me, 25k for a 2 year old Focus? Does it come with the optional female head that pops out of the dash to blow me while I'm driving?

I completely agree, the new Fords are amazing. I love everything about the new Focus and Fiesta ST's and only wish Mitsubishi would release a small turbo hatch. But if I pay over 20k for something with a turbo I'd buy a low mileage evo x.

I saw my first new mirage out in public (besides the new one on the Mitsu lot) last night while my wife and I were out shopping. It had a huge dent in the front fender. Some things never change with Mitsu owners. I told my wife you either have to be a chain smoker or not be able to drive before they will sell you a mirage. I base this on the amount of beat up mirages with cigarette burns all over the interior that I see in the junkyards. :P

I drove through the town of Wexford a couple of weeks ago and it is ALL car dealerships along the main road (Route 19) and I always look in the window of the Mitsu dealership and all along the front of the dealership was a whole row of Mirages. I kept thinking that they must've FINALLY imported the Colt, until I saw a commercial for them on TV. Either way, I suppose they answered the masses thirst for a cheap, economical hatchback. I cannot stand seeing some grown man driving a 4 door Fiesta. I see them on the highways all the time and I always feel bad for them. Sure they're getting better gas mileage than me but they look so ridiculous in them. It looks like they built the car around them. I have a big four door Hyundai with a V6 and I can still average 27-30 MPG on my way too and from work and that's not bad. I just can't see myself sacrificing a big car that rides nicely and gets decent fuel mileage for a tiny car that just bops along and struggles to do 80. Believe me, my first car was a Festiva...lol

Well looking at this thing in stock form is hideous. But Moulin13 you just changed my mind with that picture. I would rock a two door turbo one if they come out with it! And build it exactly like the ones in the pic :D

That's sick dude. See, what did I say? Some lowering, some rims, a 4b11 or even a 4g61t, and it'd be something that we'd all rock. Factory Mitsu Ralliart rally car style would suit me JUST fine.

They need to add a gt or sport model trim.
Like the Mazda 2, fiesta ST, Yaris RS...
Mitsubishi also needs to bring over the diesel option for even better fuel economy.

I thought they were hideous when they came out. this car is selling like hotcakes actually. mitsubishi almost pulled out of the USA. they had to do what they could to survive. this car gets amazing gas mileage and is really cheap to buy. they are surprisingly roomy inside. I think they wake up with a nice set of wheels. maybe mitsu will surprise everyone with a turbo version.
