argh, this post http://www.4g61t.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3607 really bothers me. Maybe I'm just cranky this morning, but I dislike when people just sign up to post things forsale and never post anything else or return to check it. This is the second time he's done this. The main reason I've never done anything about it, is because of the limited nature of cars and parts available for us.

If they're going to do it, they should at least post a location and a price, so that everyone on the board doesn't waste their time emailing him.

So at least he did come back to visit it. But regardless, this type of post is a irritating. Plus I'm power hungry, so I have to have someone to boss around!

The first thing I think of when a new person signs on and advertises something is: SCAM!!

What easier way to make money than to sign up and "sell" something only to keep the money, deliver nothing and never come back to the site again.

I'm sure some people are legitimately trying to sell something and are honest, but I always see the glass half empty.

If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is and be sure you know and trust who you are dealing with or are willing to take a chance and possibly throw away any amount of money you send to somebody because until you actually get what you paid for, you did throw the money away.

How about making the forsale forum read only until you hit 25 posts that would eliminate that...

I agree with Berserko, 25 posts, sounds like a good #.

Didn't we have that 25 post limit a while ago? I noticed that after 25 posts, most newbies know this board's style and how to behave 'n stuff.
I'd also vote for the 25 posts limit.

Mirage Performance has recently implimented a 20 post limit to good effect. (Of course people seem to have a much more inflammatory attitude over there in the first place.)

If nothing else it cuts down on people who just join the board to sell their car. I think it's a good idea.

My only problem with the 25post thing is that we then lose people who join just to sell their cars. I know that's kind of what we want to do, but with the limited amount of these cars, we kind of need to know when one goes up forsale.

Keep discussing it.

that is a good point Jason..
Maybe if we set up a thread/section or something just for gt turbo's for sale and allow new members to post there but not to open new threads until 25 posts, is that possible?

Jimmy

This could indeed be the solution we're after. OTOH, I'm afraid this thread will become junked up w/ a sh1tload of messages so it won't be readable anymore. It could reach the point of needing its own moderator. Jason, if this isn't that difficult to implement into this board - I mean, you don't want to spend your whole weekend on this, or do you? - we could as well give it a try.
