Take the wheels and tires, sell them for $300, then scrap the rest! Ha. Just kidding. I'd love to score a good find like that for my daughter, she'll be driving soon.

I couldn't pass it up. I've been needing a second car since the Colt shit itself and this just fell into my lap. It has the 3100 V6 and anyone who knows about that engine knows that it makes decent power and is extremely reliable. I got it from my neighbor and I've been the only one to work on it since she got it. I put head gaskets on it last year and I just did the plugs and wires three months ago along with the water pump. I had a 94 Corsica with the same layout that had 299,000 miles on it before I scrapped it. The engine and trans were still perfect it just had electrical problems in the fuel pump wiring. This thing runs great at 190,000 miles.

I'm a fan of the timing chain, damn things last forever. Did a friend's, the only reason his died was because after 200k, the chain wore through the nylon tensioner. Did you do the updated intake gaskets?

It's a cavalier/sunfire, can't really tell for sure, essentially the same car with different badges. Definitely a good deal though, I would have sold it for much more than 200.

Love ya man, but I would pay $200 for it to get removed from my lawn

also watch out for this:

From the mid-1990s to 2003 these engines had failure prone intake manifold gaskets which could cause coolant leakage often leading to engine failure. A series of class action lawsuits, implicating deterioration of the nylon/silicone material of the gasket are pending on this issue. Tell-tale signs of such eventual related damage are a white foam that appears on the inside of the oil filler cap and the gradually increasing loss of antifreeze coolant (due to seepage into the intake passages which will lead to engine lock up failure in such cases). External seepage is also found near the valley edge of the lower intake manifold.

^^^^ THIS ^^^^

However I wouldn't pay $200 to have it removed, I would find some sap to pay me $200 LOL.

Ps. No offense Rob, nothing personal.

Ps. Ps. Just for shits and giggles, ask GM how much they want for a fuel door hinge.

I had someone offer me $900 for it already but until I get the Colt running and inspected that'll be a no no.

For that kind of money.... What a deal! :wtg:

My wife had a Beretta when we first met over 20 years ago, and I became the mechanic through the 6 or 7 years we kept it after that. The only issues I recall with it were:

Door hinges... keep them lubed. The driver's door fell off of the car :o when one of the hinges seized and twisted off ( car was 3 years old at the time).

Console shifter... If yours has one, make sure nothing sticky ever spills in the sliding plastic piece that moves with the lever. We loaned the car for a couple of days, and when we got it back the shifter would not move after sitting overnight. Had to take the whole dang thing apart to clean it out and get it functional again. Relatives...

Throttle body.... butterfly tends to get sticky. Keep it cleaned inside the throat where the plate touches. Also, spread the coiled return spring with a small screwdriver and put some liquid graphite lube at the point where the shaft passes into the housing. You'll know you need maintenance when the pedal requires extra pressure to get going, and it "Pops" open for a jerky start. #-o

Ignition.... The car began running bad, and smelled like it was going to catch fire. :flame: The console even smoked! The heat came up from the Cat, which was being stoked with unburned fuel. The Hall-Effect ignition system has a circuit board under the coils, IIRC, and that fried. New module, and all was well again.
