I know there's two GT5 threads on here already, but this is more of a general thread than a race hookup thread (not sure why we have two of those?)

What does everyone think of GT5 so far? I like it, but as for a game that i've been looking forward to for the last 6(?) years, i'm a little disappointed. I think it feels quite unfinished. Some tracks are beautiful, some look like they've been ported from GT4. The people look like cardboard cutouts. And car shadows are blocky (apparently they're releasing a fix for this?)

-Upgrade parts selection is extremely bland even in comparison to GT4. No brake upgrades? Small selection of aftermarket wheels, limited only to premium cars (minority).

-No machine test (Test Track for 400m, 1000m etc) - was a major part of all the previous GT games, can't believe they left it out of this one. I used to love doing upgrades to cars and then hitting the 400m track to see how it's improved.

-Gran Turismo has been around for over 12 years and GT5 has over 1000 cars, and still no 3G CSMs  Give us a turbo Cyborg at least! They even took out the first gen Mivec Mirage (was in GT2, not sure about GT3 or 4). Yet GT5 includes 40+ different types of Skylines, and a whole bunch of rubbish cars like the Fiat Panda, Daihatsu Sirion etc :wall:

Other than that, not a bad game haha

I thought the original car list was to include CSMs? I guess not...

It sounds like they rushed getting it finished and left out a lot of elements.

I was looking to buy a PS3 and a wheel just for this game. After reading this, however, I am gonna spend the money on the Galant and keep playing Forza 3.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a good game. I think if you can find a well priced second-hand PS3 it's still definitely a game worth picking up (that's what I did). They have said that it will be continually updated, but I don't know if they're just gonna fix bugs, or if they'll actually continue to add new features/cars etc?

Car list is here - http://www.gran-turismo.com/local/jp/da ... st_en.html

its pretty good, but like you said it it feels a little rushed, i hate it when doing drifting and the whole car gets pixelated. they sure do love there skylines though lol, i was hoping that there would be a CSM or cyborg

It is an impressive list. No 1G DSMs though. Only 1 type of 5G Galant, at least it's the VR4... Retarded amounts of 3000GTs, FTOs, GTOs and Evos. So many versions of one type of car...

I'm very disappointed with GT5. It's not nearly as realistic as I was hoping. I can't believe we waited 5+ years for what we got, it's a joke. Granted, it's still a fun game to play, don't get me wrong, but I don't own a PS3 and I don't see myself going out and buying one just so I can have GT5, that's for sure. I'll stick to Forza on the XBOX.

I was playing it over at a friend's house and we bought a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454. It actually let us put a re-programmed chip on it, and a hi-flow catalytic converter. WTF?!! Really??? You already touched on a lot of the things that piss me off about the game. The AI is another thing that's a complete joke. Have you guys seen the videos? So funny. Anyway, I'm sticking with Forza 3 for now. Maybe if there is some package deal that comes out for cheap, or if they fix the issues with the game, I would pick it up.

One of the developers must be a diesel truck guy... Those mods would be good for like +300 hp and +400 lb/ft on a truck! HAHA

While doing the licence tests, A-Licence has a 400m stopping test held on the Top Gear test track. IC-Licence has a 1000m stopping test. Considering then, that they have a 400m and 1000m track layout already made, I wonder why they didn't incorporate Machine Test into the game. Maybe (hopefully) they'll add it in later :-?
