Anyone have a VIN decoder that will tell the build date of the vehicle, if possible, from the VIN? I'm in the process of buying an F5M33 trans that was built sometime in 92. The problem is, the owner isn't sure whether it was early '92 which used the smaller axles, or later '92 which used the larger axles. I need to verify this information before purchasing it to see whether or not I will need to obtain a different intermediate shaft and axles.

The VIN is 4E3CS54U6NE063334

I appreciate any help in advance. The generic VIN decoders I've found by searching the web just tell me the obvious, that it is a 92 model year.

Sorry man, Vins only give you the model year (10th digit). You usually need the sticker from the manufacturer to get the specific date (typically found in door jam). The Vin will give you the country of origin, the plant, and the series. With some cross referencing it would be possible (however unlikely) you could track down when it was made.

There is a # and a four digit code after the F5M33 stamped on the tranny.

F5M33-2-VPZS (90 tranny) This one will work
F5M33-2-SPZV (91-92.5 tranny) This one will work
F5M33-2-SPQV (92.5-94 tranny) Stay away unless you want to swap the diff as it uses the larger inner splines. :-?

Hope this helps!

Thanks a bunch for that info! It is an SPZV so it will work with my application.
