Ok guys... I just wanted to let you guys now what I feel about the banner sigs that are being used.

I quote.

"I hate them with the fire of a thousand suns".

It makes it very hard to scroll through a thread and read its contents. Makes me think of other forums I have been to where people are very vain about their cars.

Personally, I would like to either shrink these way down or even remove them. What do you guys think?

I agree as well.

The problem is that I can't limit the size of images or even not allow images in sigs. We'll have to make a "rule" and then I'll have to redo the sigs that are too large...

Any ideas on how to do this?
Does anyone disagree with this?

yep. And the sigs are fine when there were just one or two, but people are using them more often now. It makes it difficult to view the board at work when you don't want people knowing you're looking at car stuff.

They bother me also. Most look good. But after seeing the picture once you don't need to see it every time you log on here. The avitar should be enough. Doesn't it really slow down the people on dial up? Greg

adamrc7, I like how yours is... nice and subtle. Its when they get larger than the annoying banner ads on all the web pages I go to that the problem really kicks in.

(And yeah, I do like the funny ones too :))

I wonder if we could put in a feature request with the phpbb maintainers to have them include the option to either have an image in the sig or not and/or the ability to just turn viewing them off.

the last thing i want is to see this site becomming as ugly looking as all the hondu boards... so i suggest to size limit the sigs, but propably someone could link it to another site, i dont know how this stuff works but imo if it was smal (like the avatar) it would be ok!

Okay, like I've said before. I don't want to be a dictator, so you all can make some of the rules.

Can someone come up with some suggested guidelines (if any) for the pictures in the sigs? There's not a huge amount of them yet, but I also don't want to see them get out of hand. Some are already on the borderline of what I would say are acceptable.

If aviators and sign's are our biggest broblem then consider our-self's lucky. Some site's I'm on are really bad.
