I have been sober for 494 days now. Its been a long hard battle but I finally gave in today. I have tried to fight this problem now 3 different times. I just can't seem to give it up. It has affected my life in every aspect. Not to mention that it seems to take my life over from time to time.
Its boost. I am a DSM'er once again. I am the proud new owner of 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 #338/2000. The car is Nile Black and bone stock. I mean completely original down to the air filter(been replaced of course). The car has 105,000 miles on the clock. The last owner has had it 3-4 years. It had 45,000 miles on it when he bought it. So it was stored for a long time. I guess the original owner was a car collector. The car is an original Arizona car. And spent two years in New Mexico before being here the last two years or so. All it needs is a new hood and it is ready to rock.
The suspension is mushy, the windshield is cracked, it needs new CV boots, it needs a new hood, the paint is old, it needs a timing belt/water pump asap and compression reads 1-4 85, 92, 120, 120. I couldn't be happier though. I didn't do a wet test, but when I take delivery next week I will. Initial plans are to pull the motor right away. Not even going to register it until it recieves a tune up. Going to rebuild the head, put some ARP head studs in it, a 4 layer head gasket, clean, clean, clean the engine bay, put new CV boots on it, a stanless steel clutch line, then go and register it. It will be getting the plates the came off the talon. They read ITSOVER.
It drives great, sunroof works, A/C works, cd player works, interior is flawless if I saw so myself. A few knicks and scratches here and there but what can you expect for a 15 year old car. When pull the motor, I will also eliminate the balance shafts. Dsmlink is the first mod. When I pull the motor, off goes the ECU.
I will baseline dyno the car to get my numbers, then we will tune the car in stock form and see what dsmlink can do for a stock car. I know AEM made 25whp and 34tq on a bone stock 96 GST with their program. Now I want to show the world what dsmlink can bring out of a car. This is of course after I work my magic with the tune up. New seals, gaskets, throttle body and fresh cylinder head will be where we start.
Let the fun begin. This time I won't build a car in 4 months. I own the car and will own it for a very long time. So I don't have to rush anymore. Sorry Art, I really wanted the talon. I just started thinking about what is going to be more practical for my girlfriend and I in the next few years. Build a 2G and have to sell it, it build a galant and keep it for ever.
Huge thanks to Johnathan Gelaude(CUDSM). He was the one who introduced me to the car. You should have pressed the guy more. I am a great salesman and buyer, I got the guy to sell it when he had no other car to get around.
Paid $2300 for it. Hahahahaha. Guy had no idea what the car was.
