Post subject:  Development of New Products

With my new position and close proximity to the various aftermarket manufacturers, I'm going to see if I can't get a few things done. Here is a list of items I am going to try for, and an estimate of their likely cost if made available. Please complete the poll so I can show them that people will buy this stuff if they make it.

- MMR Custom Gauge Faces $95
- PowerSlot Slotted Rotors (turbo only) f/$150 r/$175
- Thermal R&D Turbo-System 3" Cat-Back Exhaust (turbo only) $600
- B&G or Progress True Coil-Over Suspension $1400
- Progress 22mm Rear Sway Bar $150
- FiberImages Carbon Fiber Hood $550
- FiberImages Carbon Fiber Fenders $800/pair
- FiberImages Carbon Fiber Front Lip Spoiler $525
- FiberImages Carbon Fiber Rear Hatch Spoiler (turbo style) $300

There are a few items there though that wont sell at those prices. main the fenders and probably the wing in my opinion. There wont be much a weight difference and we want all the weight we can get over our front wheels anyway. But there are definalty some good ideas in there.

Thanks for the input. For drag racers I can understand not wanting the fenders, but for autocrossers and road racers like me they're ideal. I am open to suggestions for products. Only limitation is where the company is located. They have to be in the Southern California area.

the rotors, swaybar, exhaust, and gagues are something that should have been available years ago.

the coilovers won't convince anyone to purchase at that price, but I'm sure they're top of the line.

I really doubt any of the carbon fiber would move, maybe a couple of hoods.

This is some exciting stuff. You'll be the man if you can hook some of this stuff up!

Don't take offense to anything I say, just giving my opinion on things. :)

nope

[quote:3hkerwig]- PowerSlot Slotted Rotors (turbo only) f/$150 r/$175[/quote:3hkerwig]
I "MAY" consider these, but that's a big maybe as I'm not convinced that the mirage isn't already adequately braked. If I did, it would only be the fronts.

[quote:3hkerwig]
- Thermal R&D Turbo-System 3" Cat-Back Exhaust (turbo only) $600[/quote:3hkerwig]
damnit.... If I didn't already have an exhaust. I really liked the way the Thermal sounded on my Talon.

[quote:3hkerwig]- B&G or Progress True Coil-Over Suspension $1400[/quote:3hkerwig]
Hrmmmm, I want. I can't afford. Want to give me a sponsorship!! ;-)

[quote:3hkerwig]- Progress 22mm Rear Sway Bar $150[/quote:3hkerwig]
Hey, that might not be bad, as the current ST sway bar is too big for these cars. Is it going to be a solid or hollow bar? Please say hollow!

[quote:3hkerwig]- FiberImages Carbon Fiber Hood $550

I want some of these too! But maybe too expensive, considering the amount of money I have in my car. What about Fiberglass alternatives, I guess that would only apply to the hood/fenders.

Can we make additional suggestions?

Fiberglass dashboard replacement.
Polyurethane/Delrin Bushings (swaybar, control arm, rear parts)
An additional lower front spoiler

also, along with jmauld, functional easy to install, non ugly 2 or 3 gauge pillar pod,

larger front sway bar, urethane bushings all around(including fsb)

adjustable sway bar endlinks

rear strut tower bar that does not require cutting alot of plastic

and replacements for the dash suround that seem to be made of the weakest stuff dodge could find

and a BIG plus to that lower front spoiler

how about new seat skins as well? these seem to rip like they were designed to, mebbe in 3 or 4 basic colors, such as black, dark gray, light gray and mebbe a khaki color

short throw shifter

haha! this is turning into a Christmas wish list.

While we're at it, how about a front grill replacement that's just mesh or even vented? No emblems.

The carbonfiber dash is the best idea ive heard for the colt since the swap. I would be willing to pay pretty good I wouldn't even want the stock gauge cluster in there. id fill it with good a/m gauges. Is it possible?

One such new product that i would like to see available for our GT Colt/Mirage's is Euro style "Alteza Brake lights".I actually saw one of our cars in a magazine with lights from a place called ROBOCAR but i can't seem to locate them,i have a pic of the car too but from the front with an Eclipse front bumper on it ..I'll try to post it

Okay, I agree on the short throw shifter. However, Altezza tail lights won't happen and I don't see any point in a front sway bar.

Altezza's!!! Damnit, have you no shame!?! I cant help but almost puke whenever I see em on a Honda or any other car.

Whiteline's rear swaybar is already available and is also adjustable.

I would think that some poly bushes on the front sway bar end-links would suffice as a noticable improvement for the front end on the Lancer and would be a cheap upgrade. Maybe even get the lower h-arms done as well although prepare for some bump-steer & tramming.

ok forget about the Alteza's,i would definitely buy a Carbon hood and perhaps a front bumper if they are styled similar to that of the evolution lancer 4,with huge air ducts at the front of the bumper and hood vents to let off some heat as produced by the sucking action of the radiator fan in the engine bay!!!so count me in!!

a more modern looking one piece fiberglass dash with built in (4 to 5) guage pods that eliminate the center clock, & black plastic cluster trim would be kick ass! if it were easy to remove & install (to access all guages & stuff fast), that would help alot too. the buyer could also put a coat of paint, carbon fiber vinyl, or sport cloth upholster it & it'd look very trick :D

screw altzza tailights, in japan they have all red lights, no red/amber, that would be nice,

and xlr8, ther are NO bushings on the sway bar endlinks, they are miniature ball joints, and work VERY well, its the poly sway bar bushings tehm selves we are interested in,
has anyone ever used greaseable nylon bushings? very solid mounting, not sure of the noise though, could be a very hard core kinda thing, but there woulod be no more wearing out or rattling sway bars,
