Cause this is North America, and we suck. Plus for long term Mitsu is having problems getting turbo motors to pass emissions requirement for 2006 model years and beyond.

260bhp is pretty damn impressive for an NA motor. heh.

I'm not impressed. It's d@mn near 4 liters of displacement, and only 68hp per liter. The Nissan 350Z, Altima, Maxima, G35, FX35, etc. all make 270hp from 3.5 liters, which is 77hp per liter, in better packages, IMHO.

For that matter, Honduh has been producing over 100hp per liter for years out of NA motors, and I don't even like Honduh.

Frankly, Mitsu needs to stick with what they do best -- small displacement, turbocharged engines, or I won't be buying another... :(

I completely agree with billnutz...emissions is pretty lame anyways.

I just find it hard to believe that with the HUGE success of the T/E/L, and the engine's they used, why they are going to N/A engines...even with the emissions regulations and all. For most people, a rule of thumb is "boost = fun"
