so you used all elantra mounts on that?

and clean setup
All except the front which is stock Colt on both ends. The front poly is probably going to need to be trimmed because the insert is too wide for the mount to slip over. This whole "bolt-in" swap over has been anything but on those Prothanes :)

good luck you;ll never regret the hard work.
lol yes you will
2nd, lol.

I was thinking that, but did not want to say anything. :)

Its all a learning experience. If you didnt learn somthing, then and only then is it a true fruit and banana up. Just keep that in mind.
It's definitely been a learning experience thus far and since we're not on any kind of deadline to get it done we just have fun working on it when the mood strikes. I think it will turn out for the best because of that.

looking nice along the way! :wtg:
Thank you sir!

Since my last update I got a hold of three 2.5" SS UJ bends to fab up the IC piping, Ben scored us some free SS brake lines, I lined up some 680s, and got a Walbro 255 to feed that new turbo. We haven't been over there to work on it for 3-4 weeks but maybe next weekend it will see some progress.

Holy shit we're lazy! It's closing in on 2 months of no progress at all :) Have had some good times though spending time away from it. I'm going to try to get the intermediate shaft we need this week so we can do a bit on it this weekend. That's the last piece to get the motor dropped in and then I think I'll feel a bit more motivated. It is still so much work ahead that at least I put it off pretty well.

As an aside, the Evo recently made 535whp and 421wtq at 30psi, 11:1 AFRs and 12 degrees of timing on C16. The single Walbro finally gave up at that power level so it's apart for a dual pump system. That is keeping me busy enough (and is fast enough) that the Colt has taken a back burner. Hopefully there will be some new pictures soon!

Nice numbers with the Evo. I'm actually surprised the walboro made it that far. They pretty much run out of steam at 475 from my experience. What kinda setup with the Evo? I assume 35r.

Yeah it's the HorsepowerFreaks GT35R turbo kit. T4 .68 exhaust side and a Precision "S" cover. Just the Garrett center section left of the original Garrett pieces. The curve looked like it was ready to just take off before we lost fuel pressure so I'm optimistic about power potential with a second pump. Here's a link to the kit if you're curious - http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/price/M ... /HPF_GT35R

Awesome I just read thru your whole Papa Smurf thread. I really like everything that you're doing with yours.

Keep up the good work, maybe this will inspire me to start mine finally. Having to rebuild my motor is a setback :-?

Thanks man. It's definitely a daunting task but doing it all the way the first time will make all of the work worth it in how the car performs.

Finally some progress! We bolted up the tranny, changed the plugs and wires and dropped the motor in :) I managed to rip the end off of one of the spark plug wires so I'll need to replace the whole set but that's what impatience gets me...but it's finally in! What a little hooker it was to get all of the mounts lined up and bolted! We were using the cherry picker, jack and all of Bryan's 300+ lbs to get it situated but it finally gave in. We still have just about everything to assemble as far as fuel, intercooler, exhaust, suspension and brakes are concerned but at least this is marked progress. I felt the need to drop in the motor because I was otherwise getting a bit discouraged by how much was left to do. We mocked up the manifold and the huge 61mm turbo with T4 exhaust side and everthing will fit great so that is good news as well. It will definitely need a Civic half size radiator due to how close the turbo hangs to the core support though that shouldn't pose any problem. I only got one good shot as I was running out the door for the evening but I/we are pretty proud of it thus far.

Actually in Canada, all you see are the blue ones. My 1st one was blue and so is coltevo's.

Anyways, nice seeing some work done Tom :supz:

Yeah I'm proud of my little smurf! The inserts are Prothane and were purchased through work - www.horsepowerfreaks.com :)

Some work was definitely due. The biggest problem for the build recently has been women, lol. I got involved with a new girl, my buddy Bryan is now engaged and with a little one on the way and my friend Jeremiah is married with a 2 year old. Finding time in there for all of us to get together and work on the car is difficult so it may be slow progress from here on out :) We came out of the gates like gangbusters though!

Last weekend I took the lady and went to the junkyard. She's a real trooper and helped all the way through. Kind of funny, junkyard guys sure aren't bashful about a full up and down check out. It felt like I was in New York. I kind of like watching them do it then make eye contact with me and realize I was watching the entire time, lol. I guess I just like embarassing people in general. We got a '90 DSM front bumper, new under headlight metal trim piece (stock one was dented and chipped badly) and two new headlights to replace the stock chipped and cracked ones. It was 100 degrees both days so I didn't have the motivation to work on the car.

I wanted to get a new lower control arm for the passenger side because I destroyed the bushing taking off the hub for the VR4 front brake upgrade so if anyone has one I'll take it! If I don't get any bites I'll probably just apply silicone liberally and put it back together.

We did make up a list that takes up and entire side of the box that my intercooler came in lengthwise of things needed to buy and complete on the car. I'll be checking off as I go on that, got a few little accessories in the past two weeks. This coming weekend it's off to the lake but I'll update again after the following!
