I had those tires on my Eclipse and I freaking LOVED them, and never had an alignment issue with them.

Yeah they're wicked tyres. I'd rate them over other more well known performance tyres (GSD3, T1R etc). I've never had an issue with pulling to one side either.

It figures I must have a defective one. They don't come in 205/45 ZR16 anymore anyway.

Here's a couple shots I took with my old Kodak DX6490:

I've been using my nifty fifty alot lately, I much prefer it to the kit lens now. I've been wanting to try a polarizer filter, but didn't want to fork out for an expensive one which I may not ever use (a decent one seems to be almost the same price as my 50mm :( ), so I picked up a $12 cheapie just to play around with. Heres a few random pics from today, touched up a little in Lightroom...

^^ This is a really cool shot, very nice!

On those close-up detail shots, what aperture are you shooting at? A lot of people, when they get a lens like this, just shoot it wide open @ f/1.8 because it's so cool, but it doesn't always yield the best photo. Stopping down makes it a lot lot sharper.

A polarizer is a must-have for sure. I have a B+W 77mm that I use on my ultra-wide angle Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, and I freaking love it. It's better-suited for landscape photography, or anything that has a highly reflective surface. It's good to see you out shooting man, especially using that prime, it helps so much with learning how to compose your images. Next step is to buy a nicer wide-angle lens. 8)

Thanks man! Haha yeah I admit I was on the f/1.8 buzz for most of those shots  Stop down a bit for sharpness in detail shots, noted!
Can you recommend a few decent mid-priced wide-angle lenses?

The Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is honestly the best lens for the money on the market right now. I've tried just about all of them. Anything in the Canon lineup either sucks, or is way way too overpriced. Tokina has a 16-50 f/2.8 that has gotten good reviews, and Sigma has an 18-50 f/2.8 that also produces great images.

Awesome, i'm still trying to hunt down a second hand 17-50mm here in NZ, found one a while back when I didn't have the money spare, but now that I do the market is dry. Typical... Otherwise I may look into buying from eBay or something because the retail price here in NZ is a good $300 higher than what it would cost me to bring one in from overseas.

Did you ever register on that forum I told you about, photography-on-the-net? They have a killer classified section, and there are usually a lot of people on your side of the pond selling gear.

I've been wanting to try night shooting, but having never done it before I decided to have a go on my driveway before I venture out somewhere with a nice backdrop. I didn't realise how hard it is to get decent shots of the whole car (especially since it's black), they all turned out rubbish so I deleted them . Need to be somewhere with decent lighting, or invest in some sorta strobe? Anyway, the engine bay pics turned out alright I think, I just used a simple torch for focusing/lighting. These were shot at 100iso, f/2.8 using a 20/25/30sec shutter speed.

Night shooting is my specialty. First off, I wouldn't use the 50mm for night shooting, I would use a wide-angle. Go to a parking lot that has white lights instead of orange or yellow lights. Parking structures are best because parking lots have light poles which can be distracting, gas stations have the best lighting if you can make it so the background isn't too distracting.

Get yourself a nice tripod, and get a remote shutter release cable so that you don't have to touch the shutter button on the camera to take the picture. Just touching it can create enough camera shake to make the picture blurry, especially if you have a crappy tripod. Shoot at a low ISO like 100 or 200, and stop way down to like f/8. It should come out pretty good when you do that.

Awesome, thanks for the advice!

The pics above were shot on a tripod. I'm not sure of the quality of it, but it seems pretty sturdy. It's a SLIK tripod, made in Japan, I got it when I bought my old film SLR back at school. However I don't have a remote shutter release just yet. I did notice I was getting blurry pictures when pushing the button, so after a few shots I switched to the timer mode to prevent camera shake. Works alright, just slightly inconvenient

I'll see if I can find somewhere with decent lighting. Might take a lil hunting around but i'm sure i'll find somewhere.

Ahh ok, Slik tripods are pretty nice. The timer method works too, but the remote release is only about $30 and I bet quite a lot of use out of it. It's convenient to have.

If you get lucky, maybe you can go out when there's a really bright full moon, and then you don't need special lighting! This was taken at ~10pm during a very bright full moon. 8)

Wow, that's pretty crazy!

How do you focus when setting up your night shots? Autofocus wasn't playing out too well for me, I tried manual, but couldn't really see anything through the viewfinder. So I grabbed a lil handheld flashlight, put the camera back on autofocus, and used the light to help it focus. Seems to have worked out okay, but is there another way?
