how hard was installing the hydro clutch stuff? you have any more pics of that and where did you get those part from?
The clutch pedal is a snap, just bolts right in place of the stock cable clutch pedal assembly. I still haven't used the holesaw for the actual cylinder to go through the firewall but I do have the holes drilled for the studs. I got the pieces from a hydraulic equipped Colt in the junkyard. You will need the shifter "arms" that are attached to the stock Colt transmission so don't throw away your stock tranny if you still have it. You'll need to remove the arms from the DSM transmission and replace them with the Colt arms or the shift cables will not reach. I'll get to the rest soon enough and will report back :)

Tom

thanks tom good to know, i was worried about that but you make it sound easy, and pics would be appreciated whenever you can, keep up the great work

Yeah I will definitely post more when I have more! I moved the Colt this weekend with some assistance. Bryan is moving from his place with the awesome side garage that supplied our work area up to this point. It's in my parents' shop now but all the parts are here at my house. I have to figure out a way to make that work. Only problem is that I have a two car garage that is currently filled with one torn apart Evo and my daily and I can't relegate my roommate to the street from the driveway, lol. I don't really see the Colt getting much attention 35 minutes from where I live as it sits now but I am in the market for a new place with more garage space. If that works out the Colt's completion will be greatly expedited. Hopefully things will work their way out and there are lots of updates soon!

Put most of the body together today! Fenders, lights, grille, hood, etc. went on. Almost all of it is from a junkyard car because the stock pieces were a bit banged up. The whole car will get a factory respray when all is said and done. I brought the stock radiator but it will need a little modification to clear the compressor housing so I left that for next time. I had the little lady pushing me to get some work done on it today and even though she's quite the trooper I didn't want to push it so I quit with it in the state you see. We added at least 30whp with a pair of Karl's (netninja) 4G61t.org stickers and a HorsepowerFreaks.com banner. It's serious now! I'm really bad with remembering the camera so cell phone pic again.

how did that manifold fit? im thinking about getting the same one for my talon. is that T4 flanged?
Sorry man, completely missed your question! It fit up great but does just barely clear the front motor mount. As long as you do the urethane inserts I don't think there should be any problem when them colliding.

The turbo is a Precision Turbo concoction. 61mm inducer in an old school E or B cover, not sure which. The exhaust side is .68 A/R and T4. It is basically a GT35 and as such is a standard journal bearing, not ball bearing center cartridge as with the GT35R. I would've preferred BB in a turbo of this size but for $350 with zero shaft play I couldn't pass up the deal :) I also definitely don't mind that it is oil cooled only and doesn't have both oil and coolant fittings to deal with. My Evo's 35R is both which definitely made it more complicated when building the kit.

So I've been getting hell via PM, E-mail and MySpace for no updates :) I've been very lame in the Colt department in the last several weeks and nothing has been done. It has taken a back burner to the Evo which just recently put down 568whp and 442wtq at 32 psi through the stock intake manifold and throttle body. Those pieces may be replaced at some point in hopes of cracking the 600 barrier but I'm just not sure I'm willing to sacrifice any spool to get it. Between that and the cold ass weather it will probably be a bit before the Colt is running but I've promised lots of folks to have it ready to roll before the nice weather hits. Thanks for all of the messages guys, you really are an inspiration!

Wow long time no post. Progress to report! Pops and I tightened down all the motor mounts, removed the dead alternator that I forgot about while the motor was out, bolted up the TB elbow with new gaskets and mounted the reducer that will house the GM MAF. We also swapped in the skateboard bearing shift linkage mod and attached the shift linkage. I don't think is on properly because the shifter does not negotiate the gears. Ideas? The interior was in a milliion pieces and with the help of my lovely girlfriend, is now all back to good. As usual, on to the pictures!

very interested to see how you run the intercooler pipe with the turbo clocked down. i have the almost same exact setup and i see no other way than to go up and over the manifold. the front motor mount is directly in the way..

It's been so long since I read this thread I forgot what tranny you were using. If it's a 1g FWD did you swap over the shift levers from the Colt tranny?

I noticed the same. If there's a will there's a way!

It is a 1G FWD and the 2-bolt shift lever is swapped over. I'm still getting massive binding when trying to run it through the gears so I'm thinking the other isn't right and will need to change somehow.

highonpsi....you need to swap the lever on the tranny itself to the CSM style one. Pictures show a 1g shift arm on the trans. Grind the welds and weld the CSM one into place...easiest/least time consuming way.

The smoothest trans I've ever shift in a turbo CSM was a FWD turbo DSM trans with the 1g shift levers still intact. CSM shifter was still be utilized as well. I was baffled to say the least.

I was under the impression to just drill the pin out and either tap the shift rod and install a bolt or do you think you could even get away with a stainless rollpin?

Trying to drill that pin is a PITA for sure. Grind the welds and just reweld the new one on. Takes all of 15 minutes to do. You need to swap both levers and the cable bracket over from the 1.5L tranny.

Here is a pic of my old trans. You can tell where I cut the welds and rewelded on the bent CSM arm. Just use a dremel with a black cut off wheel. Cut through the welds as much as you can and then tap it with a hammer and it'll come right off.

You can also tell that I did drill out the pin, after it took me an hour or more to do so I quickly realized that there was an easier way. I didn't even bother drilling the stock CSM shifter arm.
