Does anyone have any informative reviews of good clutch combo's?

I have a new clutch right now, but I dont have a good tranny so I can't really rate the clutch very well when it barely shifts right now...

I have a centerforce dual friction, pressure plate and disc, and it works great, grabs nice, and the pedal is as light as stock.

good clutch,

Jimmy

is your centerforce using a DSM 2.0 flywheel or the 1.6 flywheel?

Ive got a 2.0L Turbo dsm FWD flywheel, with a galant vr4 h/d daikin clutch kit. 5 puck brass button sprung centre.

It is a little heavy on the left leg in traffic, but grips extremly well... it is a bit of a pain in traffic though as it shudders alot

Part number R320nhdb (Daikin part number)

Mike

I ordered the 2.0 FWD Turbo flywheel, and the 3kgt clutch kit, I'll let everyone know, I'm just worried about the splines.

I have had good luck with a used 2100# "RPS Turbo" pressure plate / OEM AWD disc combo. It took all my small 16G 309 HP 4G63 could give it. The previous 1400# OEM AWD clutch on a FWD 2.0 flywheel wouldn't hold though. A couple observations I noticed were (1) a significant increase in pressure on the "Turbo" clutch and (2) for complete disengagement the pedal has to be against the floor [it is adjusted properly] i.e. the pedal has to travel further on the Turbo clutch. I don't know if this is normal. This is especially necessary during a high RPM shift. I also had to put a 1/8" washer on the throwout arm pivot bolt to position the arm correctly.

I am using a 2600ACT pressure plate and a stock AWD disc from a 1st Gen. Combo works very well for daily driving, but I would say go with a 2100 if your not planning on running more then 300HP.

2600 does get tiring after a while.

Definately agree. I was running a 2600 in my 4g63 on stock flywheel. The stock clutch fork just couldn't handle this heavy of a pressure plate (bent and warped). I switched over to a ACT AWD flywheel and 2100. Much better.

If you aren't going to make mega power, don't put a mega clutch in.

Scott

I had a 2.0 fwd aluminum flywheel, with what spec called a stage 3 clutch. I stalled it 3 times the first day backing it out of the garage, I was not use to the light flywheel, plus it grabs really hard. I did like it after getting use to it.

Worked fine until I blew the tranny up, took it all apart and half the springs were gone out of the disc. Spec admitted that they had a design flaw with it, and sent me a new updated disc on warranty. The metal that holds the springs in is now about twice as thick as before.

ACT 2100 with Fidenza FWD flywheel, a little heavier pedal than stock, but holds nice, where the Centerforce D/F slipped after 5000 klicks.

I have a Clutchmasters Stage 4 four puck ceramic clutch and the stock 1.6 flywheel. Works perfectly.

I would have to recommend against centerforce very strongly! Read anywhere on tuners and you'll see why. They don't hold sh*t for power, they are good for other cars but not DSMs.

I've ran a Southbend Clutch stage 2 clutch, which is their kevlar disc clutch kit, with a Fidanza on my old GS-T. It held whatever I threw at it and I loved the grab it had.

On my colt, I'm going to be running a stock clutch with a fidanza flywheel. I'll let you know how it feels. I'll be around 200whp to start.

I'm interested in the ACT pressure plates. Does anyone know how much power the 2100 can hold? Thanks.
