Just thought I would post and see if any one is familiar with this turbo. Ive been looking at this turbo for a while and I like It for its price and its brand. It’s kind of big and it will put down the power I am looking for. Dose any one have horror stories with the journal bearing set up in this turbo. If any one has any words of wisdom or turbo of this size for cheaper that are nice please let me know.

I've never heard amazing things about those turbos, but Honda guys seem to have a lot of success with them. Personally, I'd go for a 35R HTA and have something that spools fast as shit and can support 700whp on a proper setup.

Yeah I also like that idea, but I am sure you have to push the shit out of a 35r to make that power. There is not many people with 700hp 35r that will last a while. As far as I know I mean prove me wrong with info. I havent really looked too hard in the 35r fame.

Also whats the cheapest 35r that will make 650hp for under 1250$

The HTA's need lots of boost to make big power, but they can take it, lots of EVO guys are making BIG numbers with them. A GT4088 is gonna cost just as much as a 35R HTA unless you plan on running journal bearing, and then kiss any chance of decent boost goodbye, because even a BB version of that turbo will be lucky to see full boost by low 5's on a 2.0 liter. The 35R HTA will spool 1,000rpm's sooner and support damn near just as much power--seems like a clear winner here.

A normal off-the-shelf 35R can be had for $1,200 and you can go pretty damn far with that. You won't hit 700whp with it, but low 600's should be easily attainable.
