Post subject:  Whiteline Lowering Springs

Just installed a set of the Whiteline Control series springs on the Colt last weekend. Ive been commuting the car to work all week, and I must say that I am VERY pleased with several aspects of the springs.

I removed my original 1.5L springs and installed the Whitelines on the 1.5yr old KYB GR2's, and the car was lowered approximately 2" in front, and 1" in the rear measuring from the floor to the fender lip. (I think they say 1.6") Im sure the suspension will settle somewhat over the next couple weeks.

I didnt get an alignment yet, but everything seems fine, the wheel is still centered, and the car tracks correctly down the road at 125mph :D
Handling has improved 300%, the car responds like a fricken go-kart!!! The suspension doesnt tuck hardly at all on hard acceleration, and the tendecy to torque steer and change lanes has diminished. I can still fit 2-3 fingers between the tires and fender lip, and the car doesnt look retarded-low. The ride is firm, but not harsh. Most importantly, my slicks clear no problem, even driving on city streets.

I would recommend these springs for a street driven car in a heartbeat. I havent tried all the other suspension options out there, but the improvements I have seen with these springs is a good mix of all worlds. The aussies did their homework.

Will post pictures soon!

I'd be willing to subject myself to some g-forces if people want a second opinion.

Nice review, ill be waiting for pics, lol. Im trying to choose also between the whitelines and the b+g springs...i have new kyb gr2's in the garage to match them up with. When u installed the kyb gr2s, did you notice a big improvement over stock?

I can attest to the GR-2s, last winter when my 14 year old suspension went out, I threw the KYB's on all four corners, and I immediately loved the change and improvement in control. I've had my Whiteline Control's sitting in my room for a few months now, all I need now is a garage and spring compressors to install them.

Paul, did you have to get new "upper spring mounts" or anything like that? Or was it 100% painless. I've heard you need new spring mounts from somebody on the site here. All I need is a good chunk of time, and I'll have my Hawk HPS pads in along with the Whitelines, and I'll be a happy man.

PICS OR BAN

I also have the whitelines sitting in my room, I was hoping they would lower the car so it wasnt sitting 15' off the ground are you running stock rims or do you have 14/15/16? beacause I have seen these springs on a vehicle with 15's and they could not put any fingers above the wheels.

I am very happy with the GR2’s. For a supposed stock replacement strut, they were a great improvement over the worn old struts. I have all new replacement upper spring perches (KYB) from tirerack, but if your stockers are in OK shape, I would to reuse them. Installing the Whitelines was super easy, no tricks or voodoo magic. If you have a helper to thread the nut on top, you don’t even need a spring compressor to install the new springs. The whitelines only need to be compressed ½â€

Cleaned up the banter, you guys can thank me later.
Good post Paul! I'm just wondering why my car isn't sitting lower like yours, or maybe it is just shadow. Comparison available soon in pic form.

I'll post the other photo when I can upload it to the gallery site from my other computer.
205/50 15 stock offset is what you are looking at, sitting below H&R 1G drop springs.
My other photo has a ruler held up to the wheel/opening so we'll know more soon.

Although i'd looove a set of Whitelines, I just got B+G springs for my Colt last week, huuuge improvement over the stock crap. Honestly I could rave on about em, but I wont, comfortable ride, handles like its on rails, and looks badass 8)

so B+G or Whitelines? Are the whitelines worth the extra $50 ($20 if the group buy goes through)
