Post subject:  Door pods for sedan...

Ok, i know a lot of people have hatches and i have a sedan (odd one out!) but i was wondering if anyone has made door pods for their cars?
Now once again i feel like a noob cause lots of people will have made pods, but i was wondering how you did it? Is the old fibreboard and fibreglass the best and easiest way?
Thoughts?

I would say yes to your pod question, however, I'm sure you can source out some plastic pods that were made rather generically for any old door that has a spot to screw/bolt into as well.
I'm haven't been up on much of this stuff but at least this will bump you up for a while!

I myself did the fibreboard and fibreglass Wonder Pods but I'm sure things would be better the next time, now that I have more power tools to sand with!

I just purchased a demo CD Player from Future Shop and got rid of the tape deck. Now my only concern is that there is really no sound stage in the front of the car. I'm sure that is why you are thinking along these lines as well. The other thing that I personally think would be rather different (oooh I'm having an idea!) would be to take a spare pair of front panels from another car (the ones that cover the speakers originally) and mold/manufacture some new pods right into them. This gets the speakers further away from all the other hazardous wiring that can induce noise into the spread. I think this would be the least intrusive and easiest to wire. Then the only choice becomes the speaker selection for whether you want open air speakers or ones that sound best in a sealed/vented pod!

Phewww that was long but I hope that answers your questions. I too am just getting bitten by the bug again. Last time it hit, my system ran me 5K. No money or job like that this time though!

I'd ask around if anyone with a built system (quality not necessarily quantity) has found that pods are worth the sound change compared the holes in the doors that are probably sitting behind your panels (if your aren't alreay installed that way originally). I know that the pods sound better as audio was almost a career choice for me (I sold my last car just to upgrade my home audio system). That being said, I know some members here will have some good opinions.

I made my front pods out of Fiberglass for the project car I'm going to use JL Audio XR652-CS 3 Peice Comonents .75" tweeter in the top of the doors 6.5" in the bottom and 4" in the dash it will provide very nice front stage its very full. I cross my fronts out at 80hz using a third order slope.

Yeah i have 4" speakers in the dash, i want to drag the bass forward from the sub. Make it stage a bit better is the main point.
