I have a McIntosh 4 channel amp. 50Wx4 Was given to me a long time ago. I opened it up and the main power trace on the board was melted. I resoldered it and now the amp works. Problem is that it works with only two inputs. I have two tens hooked up bridged to channels 1&2, 3&4. It puts out a rythmic thump thump thump over the music if i plug the signal inputs into channels 3&4. 1&2 sound fine. What could be causing this? Is it fixable? I looked this amp up on the web and seems to retail for over $1200. |

$1200 for a 4x50watt? They're usually pretty much free here Sounds like PSU dead, or if it's a shared PSU between the amps then the amps dead. Sounds like a typical amp fault, oscillating at a low frequency. Chances are someone has shorted the output, blew an amp chip which fried a track as well. If you want it fixed, give me a PM, I built my own last year. |

Something else strange. I noticed that i have bass coming only from one channel. High freqs from the other three. Swapping inputs around changes nothing. This thing booms from one channel tho! |

Sounds like your circuits are crossed in your amp. By switching the input tells you that your freq. is messed up in your amp. If you really like the amp I would take it in and get it repaired. It might be cheaper just to buy a new amp. |
