nope, a bolt doesn't go there, but a little black rubber breather is suppoused to be there. You're probably ok w/o it though. |

ok, just look like a way for crap to get in the tranny. tranny oil and diff oil is all one correct? cause when I pulled the drain bolt thats below the passenger side axle then filled it up through a bolt hole at the front of the tranny(thats I sorda remembered as the fill bolt from a '91 colt I had a couple years ago) it shifted worse than before I changed it, I think I need lighter oil, book said run GL-4 or better so I picked up some 80-90 that said it works for where GL-4 or 5 is called for. hmmm, have to deal with it once its actually on the road, temp permit ran out so gotta wait for truck to sell. |

Never EVER use any GL-5 oil on Mitsu trannys. It will eat the syncros. 80-90 is a heavy oil. It works, but shifting is a nightmare when it's cold outside. A lot of people said Castrol VMX80 is great, but I don't know (and couldn't find out) wether it's GL-5 or GL-4. Does anyone know? |

I use half Redline MT90 and half MTL in both of my cars. VFAQ has a lot of good info on fluids. -Tuan- '89 Colt GT Turbo '91 GVR-4 #1421 |

Just for future reference, try to make the title a little more clear about the subject of the post. If someone searches for transmission and this title pops up, they most likely are not going to look at it. |

I use BG SynchroShift and it seems to work well. In addition, it has virtually no odor. |

BG Synchroshift or GM Synchromesh is the ONLY thing to put in a DSM tranny. I have tried 4 or 5 others, and none of them even come CLOSE to these. The entire DSMHawaii car club SWEARS by these products. -Kev |

yah I know, I wasn't intending to switch topics but it kinda happened, maybe I should create a tranny oil thread?
