Oh, i wholeheartedly agree with you guys. This one is here now though, and the n/t to turbo convert i did three years back showed me how fun the n/t trans gearing is. Ive been involved heavily with 1g t/e/ls since '99. I will go straight to a welded diff late 1991- early 92 AWD trans.

Getting a f5m33 sometimes becomes hard and if thats your case i would recommend you a f5m31 instead using a f5m22, of course if you don't have plans for a big power, they seem to hold boost/torque way better than f5m22, I've been using these transmissions for like 4 years and i haven't destroyed one yet lol I ran high 13s with one of these on my 2g, plus you can also use equal lenght shafts with these...

I've run into that problem before. The 1.5 axle didn't have the clip positioned deep enough into the differential when I installed my KM206, and I had to change the axle.

Ok update. I got to thinking. I have an open differential. So i jacked both front wheels up with the trans in neutral and stopped one wheel as i spun the other. The drivers side spins fine. When i spin the passengers side the whole engine/trans assembly rocks as if the shaft were growing longer then shorter then longer again when the wheel rotates.

Now, this shaft was driven around by me with the km201 trans and 1.5l. No issues. It isnt cocked funny slid into the swapped trans. Its locked in. Nothing looks out of place.

Has anyone got an idea why the passenger side shaft would wobble so much that it would shake the driverside shaft out of the trans?

How many miles on the trans? Something might be worn out inside.

The f5m22 came out of a non turbo to turbo converted 91 plymouth laser. it was daily driven to and from work before it was parked, no issue with axles at all. It was parked because I got tired of the rust from the gas tank clogging the injectors and had an all wheel drive talon shell waiting to be built.

Funny thing is that the engine rocks every 1/3 turn of the axle, like matcing the trunions at each binding point. And, I remember it being very tight pushing the hub into position for the a-arm ball joint to slide into place. I notice the roll stops show that the engine and trans are towards the passenger side. I wonder if it is binding simply because of that.
