I used the single core 92 1.5 rad when I swapped both the 1.6 and the 2.0 turbo and really the only hurdle that I had to overcome was the inlet neck size difference on the top of the rad. Other than that issue, the car never had any cooling issues. Now granted, when people think of Pennsylvania and the north in general, they don't think about high heat. But in the summers it can easily reach 100+ and this car never missed a beat, even when I was maxing it out racing high horsepower cars. A good rule of thumb is to go with the DSM or Evo rad because of the greater cooling efficiency. But if you're broke and need to save up for a good rad, the stocker will hold up for the time being. I wouldn't run it long term because my rule of thumb is if something can go wrong, it will.

I bought this 4g63t colt already swapped, its a 93, 4th gen colt, it has a single core half size rad. Its the stock rad im sure. I never would have built the car with this rad when its so easy to get a bigger evo rad. Funny thing is it works perfect. Its the only dsm swap ive had that doesnt heat up

LILevo, what type of fan set-up do you have? Do you have shrouding?

I too run a half size civic rad. dual core with a pusher fan, it has been fine but to be ideal it should have a puller fan with shrouding.

I should also mention that i have THE STOCK FAN and my last colt had a dual core 2000gtx rad with some generic skinny fans i bought at the local speed shop. I am in saskatchewan but it does get +30 celcius in the summer, these are the days i had to turn on the heater when it climbed over 200. I was going to buy a big aluminum rad. But now i know its not the rad, its the fan man! This colt has the same setup, all stock junk. Tube manifolds cause it to heat up, cams, high compression, etc.
Ill only use small half rads from now on
