Hey guys, I just picked up a 89 colt, it has been swapped to the 4g93 mivec sohc motor, it runs pretty good for what it is. I'd like a little more out of the car though. Just curious if anyone has any experience with the 4g93 mivec motor. Do these motors take well to boosted applications? Or should I just pull it and find a 4g63? Are the manifolds for the 4g63 the same as the 4g93? Not looking to do anything crazy for powerwise. I think 270-300whp would make this thing pretty badass. My colt isn't clean. It's a beater. She's been stripped to the bare bones as far as the interior goes. Thank you in advance for your time. |

You could get the 4g93t motor installed by the factory, but it was the rare bird kinda like the 4g13 motors. Best bet is to take out the MIVEC motor as it likely has a ton less aftermarket and support to make it work. Stick with an inbound crate Japanese motor 4g61t/4g63t with FWD trans combo. IF the car is in that bad a shape, better to buy one that is already swapped, with the interior still intact. |

I doubt I could find another swapped colt local. |

Curious to know what transmission is installed to the car currently? Can you see the serial number on the top front of the bell housing? End cap in the pass fender well? Pics would be great if you have them to. This may have a 2G style transmission in it then, so a photo of the front mounts setup would help that process along. |

Ok, it'll be a few more days, I'm still working out of town. I'm not sure what tras is being used, but I'll post up some pictures as soon as I can. |

I'm starting to remember our NZ buddies that had 4g93t motors. They were DOHC? from what I remember. Couldn't tell you if the rods and pistons were identical or not, and whether they stood up well to turbo charging. I do know the rods were smaller and weaker than the 4g6x counterparts. Best to stick with what you have, unless you are tearing into the motor, fuel system via piggyback controller, ECU (assuming that's possibly), and or adding a turbo setup which would all likely by custom. Enjoy the fuel economy and decent pickup speed. |
