 Post subject: strut mount position?

Just put new mounts and struts on my 89 turbo and was curious if you all know which way they are supposed to sit? I know some struts have an arrow for which way to sit them, but I wasn't thinking when I threw them in. They are only 2 bolt and depending on which way you bolt them in there is a wider gap on one of the sides. Thoughts??

shorter distance is the rear.. towards windshield.
