Moved this to newbie tech.

To answer your question, yes, there are LOTS of options for upgrading the turbo and the injectors on a 4g61t. What are your goals for the car?

For now just building power is like to end up at about 300 whp and run it in autocross. Where do I look to find performance parts?

There's nothing that caters specifically to a 4g61t. You're going to using 4g63t parts. There are a plethora of websites to choose from.

Yes, all but the water pump, fuel rail (well the 89 was specific and you should keep it if you have a 4g61t), timing belt, no balance shafts, and head gasket because of the smaller bore on the 4g61.
Your upgrade path is like bolting on everything at the front of the motor from a 1990 Talon/Eclipse turbo for your easiest solution.
Throttle body will also bolt up, MAF, injectors, exhaust manifold, turbo 14b-16G, exhaust downpipe, and the list goes on. Go hunting the archives for what people bolt up to a 4g63 and it will fit a 4g61 with very few exceptions which were stated above. The only problem I had was upgrading a 4g61t to a 4g63t, because the increase in block height brought the exhaust manifold and turbo up a few mm, and caused the already large and upgraded exhaust to pull up to the body and cause a nasty vibration. You won't have this problem when building from scratch.
Check out my member thread, Coltixim, and tons of other peoples for inspiration. "Almost" everyone here now is driving a swapped or original turbo car, so most member threads from North America, AUS and NZ have turbo'd cars. Heck find "snowdevl"s, to4garret, and some others too.

Noticed you wanted to upgrade the turbo and injectors. Well if you want a bigger turbo, you need a DSM 1G/2G/EVO3 exhaust manifold to bolt up the td05 exhaust CHRA's to. the stock 11b for a 4g61t has only three holes for the turbo to bolt to the manifold. You need the four bolt flange and they used a four bolt from 1987-1995 at a minimum.

I know this is an older post but I was just browsing the site and noticed you said an 11b is a 3 bolt? If that's the case I've sold a couple people on here a wrong turbo because I assumed the turbos I pulled off my seemingly stock 61t cars were 11bs, I think I'm missing something here... loosing my mind :toimonster:

9b, likely my bad for writing 11b. The 3000GT's likely had twin 11b's ... or some such.

I'm not sure anymore. Honestly ....
Someone has to back me up here or completely debunk me.

I never had the stock turbo and it is not engrained to my memory like it should be!

Yes, we should clear this up .... haha.

I will try to update this with some pics of my 11bs with serial numbers ect. I believe the 3kgt would have the 3 bolt turbos which would be the 9b.

To your credit, and my recollection, 3-bolt 9b turbos on the 3kgt. Some upgraded to 11b turbos and saw gains, but I assume they used the 9b center cartridge with 11b parts to retain the 3-bolt pattern.
