Im trying to search on here and forgive me if its available and I cant find it. Just curious if the 4 speed was problematic and should just keep my eyes on a 5 speed none turbo colt. reason i mention 4 speed someone is trading there colt local to me. I might just give up my 1g turbo dsm due to work cutting hours and what not. My commute is pretty long

There never was a 4spd. turbo colt, they were all 5spd. The non-turbo cars were available in 4spd or 5spd. You want a 5spd, for lots of reasons. The 5spd is stronger, and the 5spds were also all hydraulic clutch, where-as the 4spd is cable.

I had issues with my 4 speed popping out of 1st and 2nd with a little over 100k on it so I would opt for the 5 speed.

I would look for the 5spd as mentioned above, stronger, and extra gear gets you better mpg, even though i used to get about 35+mpg with the 4spd.

4 Speed I've had bad luck with less than ~100k miles would have to repair/rebuild. The cable clutch on it is flimsy that was the thing that cost me the most owining the Base model Colt. It has ~225k miles. ~40mpg PS: OE Clutch Cable ~$100 but I learned to go to Big R or Farm Store and buy the same Diameter size Wire Rope and that ran me $4 and did the job for about 6 months :P Had to change it after winter.. and again after summer.

5 Speed in the Colt GL with Hydro Clutch is nice! Easy to shift and havn't had to work on it much! ~300k miles on it and finally tearing out the engine to rebuild and might rebuild the tranny since it is out but... It aint broke so I might just leave it alone!! :P ~50mpg

The Colts have always been a Daily Driver and getting ready to do a face lift on the colt. When i get a little more free time. But theres my 2 cents hopefully it helps ya out.
