hey guys new to the forum and from new zealand, i own a 1989 galant with a 1.8 dohc 4g67, ive a few of these and theyve always gone pretty hard, this one though does not. its had a manual conversion so i thought maybe the ecu was a auto one so tried a manual one and even brought a 2 litre dohc one but still does not go harder, any ideas on why it lacks top end power?? and cheap upgrades that would help???

Do a compression test. Also don't mix and match ecu's; make sure you have the correct ecu, injectors, and MAF.

The transmission wont have much to do in the power category.

Does the rear end gear ratio match the transmission? If not, you would be wasting all your power to cook up the viscous coupler.

Look at the end cap where the passenger side fenderwell cover is located, the end cap for the transmission. It will say KM210 if you have a transaxle from a 4g61/t combination, or a like era Hyundai Sonata.

Just like in this photo:

Will be drivers side Eagle, we are from New Zealand haha, right hand drive mate.

I would suggest getting another f5m222 gearbox of Trade me, they tend to go fairly cheap.

Also in wanting to turbo your engine, I can provide you with ecu, loom, injectors, turbo, exhaust manifold (needs new gasket between turbo and manifold, plus missing two bolts) turbo water bypass pipe and probably a few other parts if you need.

Private message me and we can negotiate price

Also if you need engine manuals I can put them on a disc for you.
