Hey there. I recently picked up a members eiii16g e85 1.6. The car is in need of new struts and I am looking for some guidance. The car will go to the drag strip a few times a year, but really the car will be a Friday night car for some roll races. With that being said I'd like to keep the cost down but would like some opinions on struts. I did search before posting but couldn't find what I'm looking for. Again I don't wan't "the best out there" just the best option for the least amount of coin.
Thank you in advance.
Anthony

 Thank you for the reply. Are the front dsm struts a direct swap?

Rent a spring compressor, switch the csm top with the awd strut Top and then it's direct swap. Using the csm rear gr2 kyb gives nice ride above stock and pretty cheap. Plus gives and equal height with the front and you won't have to mess around using the awd for the back. Think this is cheapest way, unless someone else knows better option.

DSM front struts are not a direct swap. They make the front of the car a couple inches higher. You can put in lower springs, but then you're pretty much on the bump stops.

It seems like if you're going to spend the money on AGX struts ($150 per side), you may as well just buy the Koni yellows that were specifically designed for your car. If you want to spend less than that, buy the GR2 struts that were specifically made for your car. They'll fit perfectly because they are original equipment.

As for the rear, same deal KYB Gr2 shocks are OEM replacements. Unfortunately the Konis for the rear are discontinued, and they never made AGX's for it. You can do like I did if you really want ($150 per side) AGX's, buy a set and weld extensions to them. Be careful not to blow yourself up; there's pressurized oil and gas in there.

He did say the cheapest, I forgot to mention go that route if he can get those awd struts from a friend free, cheap or from craigslist.
